Properly lulled me into a false sense of security, would LOVE to see more of this project! Voice acting, art, story, script, gameplay, music (the backing track is a total jam!), it was such a well rounded project and this team has a lot of potential to get things going!
In a more relaxed release the plot could unfurl a little bit slower and make this a great game to play till the end, even with this short span the story is enticing. Flying "by jump" seems strange as the mech is alway hovering anyway, but creates some nice attack pattern nonetheless. Good entry for the jam
I absolutely loved this game.
It was an interesting storyline and had nice artwork. The voice acting was great. I also liked the combat. I'm kinda not great at games so the way my health returned at the start of each phase helped me be able to reach the end. I wasn't sure I was at the end at first. I kept wanting to find out who we were there for and why. That curiosity is great for any story. Well done.
Hey!
Thanks so much for the lovely comment. It's fantastic that you wanted to know more about the story - as a writer you always hope people care about your characters. Also, the comment about health returning was super important - we were focused on the narrative over making something hardcore in terms of combat, so I'm glad. If we do a full game, after comments like this, I think accessibility/difficulty options are gonna be at the front of our mind!
I wanted to say we loved Sprocket as well (me and my team are actually on Discord playing through - currently stuck with a fish, cable ties and a fence post). Great writing and music especially!
As itch.io doesn't have a message feature, I just wanted to say if you wanted to message on Discord - find it's always nice to have dev contacts working on similar games, my tag is K.C.Dignan#2993 and if not that's totally cool!
Wow! Wonderful game. Everything was very well done - the art, the writing, the dialog, the voice acting. Both characters were immediately likable, and they made a great duo. Overall, this was a very high-quality play experience. I loved how the story progressed between each "level" of the game. I always love when games involve a good story. It kept it interesting and engaging. The story surprised me by how deep it got.
I only have a few constructive comments. The fighting music didn't really seem to fit the mood or artistic vibe of the game. I liked the sad, ending music.
The only other comment I have is that there were quite a few controls to navigate all at once. Fighting in the air was interesting. It worked though, since I didn't fall while fighting. But I didn't understand the need for 2 attack buttons. I just used K the whole time. I had no problem getting to the end of the game, so perhaps it was on the easy side, but I personally like combat that is simple and a bit "easier."
Overall though, very well done game! This one's a gem.
That was a really good little game, the story was so sad and the music worked perfectly with it! MY only complaint is the combat could use a little work or at least the button placement.. Felt a bit awkward for my hands!
Fun game! I had a fun time listening to the voice lines and had a few chuckles. I like the twist in there as well, excited to see the continuation.
Like others said, some bugs with the dashing and I found it easiest to just run around mashing all the attack buttons lol but still a fun time that took me on a bit of an emotional roller coaster I wasn't expecting!
Really great voice acting! May I adding he charge to the mouse too?
honestly this game is great. i legit felt bad for deactivating L4UR4. its kinda easy to cheese it with the heavy attack since it reflects bullets, but still, awesome job!
Awesome Voice Acting and Storytelling! Loved the dialogue between Max and Laura.
No, I'm not crying, I just got something in my eye haha. I did not expect that ending.
For the combat, I felt like spamming all the attack keys was the most effective way to kill and when enemies went off the screen the “Dash” attack sometimes bugs out (I think).
Nonetheless, Great Work!
Really nice story and top tier voice acting, also much more emotional than i would have expected :'(
the game's also fun to play and i like both the movement and the combat system with the 3 main attack types, although i found the range on the base attack to be a bit weird as i seemed to not hit all that much so i spent most the game using the heavy spin attack instead as it proved much more reliable plus it was awesome to discover it can deflect enemy shots :D
The music also is really good, and i gotta say i didn't expect a voiced song in a jam game as well, cool stuff.
Won't spoil the story it's really worth experiencing, but i'm quite curious as to where it'd go from here if you plan to continue this.
Good job to you all, cool game :)
Really enjoyed the visuals and was impressed with the voice acting. The story had me hooked til the end, looking forward to Episode 2! Great job!
Thanks Lando!
Happy to see that the story hooked you!
Fantastically polished, voice acted and presented. Well done!
This was really great! It somewhat reminded me of Nier Automata.
Thank you! such an honor to remind to Nier Automata :D
EDIT: Turned out you had to press E. My bad.
Also, this game was AMAZING. Can't wait to see the next installment.
