Did you work in a team?
All me
I made this in two days
Yes, this was fun
Yes, I am dead
Was the resolution a challenge?
Unity sucks for building to low resolution
void SolveProblem(){
blood;
sweat;
Google;
sleep loss;
}
What did you learn?
Yeah! I wanted to make a little shooty ship guy that does what the player does in my game. I didn't find new solutions, you just keep throwing your head at the euler-quaternion wall until it breaks. I learned how to better manage time and work in even lower resolutions than I usually do. I think next year should be a 2x2 resolution. That would really encourage creativity.

Good job! I'd appreciate a score or time counter. I like the music.
There is a score counter! If you follow the red arrow you will see a purple bar that marks your progress towards the end. :)
fun game with good music. that lot of animation on the water rotating at the same time hurt my eyes a bit. The sound effects doesnt really fit with the music theme.
It took several attempts but I did finally find the treasure. Is its position static? It felt very much like I was chasing it on a couple attempts, though perhaps that's more down to the enemies and trying to dodge their cannon fire. Excellent music, and the tutorial implementation made me laugh. Well done.
There is a victory screen at the end. If you follow the red arrow, the purple bar at the top of the screen fills. When it reaches the end, you win!
Fun concept. Though things seemed to just float around it was hard to tell which direction anything was headed, maybe that just me, or the low resolution though.
Controlling the ship also felt a bit sluggish and unsatisfying.
I found interesting that you fire sideways and had to turn from destination to shoot enemy ships.
I appreciated the different enemy types. I wished the ship had a boost because the bullets are at times unavoidable. I also wonder how the game would have fared with the gun at the front of the ship. An entry with potential.
Interesting little game. The idea of having a tutorial even without a menu is a neat way to get around time constraints, but a text tutorial on the game page might have served the same purpose more ergonomically. The music does a lot to add to the high-seas feeling of the game, but the other sounds are a bit electronic to fit. Graphics work well but the amount of lines and tilted pixels can be a bit harsh on the eyes (somewhat unavoidable when using rotations at this resolution, and I know Unity is painful to wrangle at small resolutions). Following the arrow was fun, although I didn't ever get far due to the amount of enemies and lack of options dealing with them. If you could have fired while stopping that would have at least given you a tool to deal with those heat-seeking missle viking longboats. The enemy variety helped the game, and I liked being able to see your progress through a bar at all times.
I got the (unintelligible) RICHES! ^^ haha. I don't think I killed anyone without being hit so I just dodged bullets while following the compass not attacking anyone.
Thank you! The blinking text at the end reads '(unimaginable)'. Running away and dodging is a less effective strategy but I have seen a few testers do it successfully. Good job!
An interesting game, the controls are very simple, but you have to think about what you're doing. The graphics at first really scared me with their flickering, but I get used to it quickly.
This is the most honest LowRez and I like it.
Fun entry! The music really sets the mood. The sound the big ships make is slightly jarring, but it definitely lets you know when danger is approaching! I also thought your menu was great, a clever way to cram in some instructions on a time crunch. Nice job!
The music is great in this game and the jarring sound when the large ships start barreling towards you does make them even more intimidating. Visually I think the water, especially the wake effect is really striking.
The mechanics are interesting. It can be quite challenging to spin around and line up shots while also trying to avoid being rammed, but when it all comes together it feels great, doing a wild turn (HARD A-STARBOARD) and just narrowly sliding past a huge enemy vessel and then my cannons pop off and it explodes is awesome.
Great fun, with plenty of good swashbuckling feel thanks to the excellent music. Trying to line up shots whilst staying on course proved difficult but fun, and definitely fits the feeling of ship combat :)
I agree with many of the other comments - the menu is great and very charming!
I like the way the game builds tension with the slow inertial turn and the dramatic music. Great job!
haha loved the "menu"! Nice touch!
Neat little shooty ship game. I think LowRez did a 32x32px requirement once, so maybe they'll change things up sometime again.
While the menu may not have any visual content, it certainly exceeds expectations in the aspect of getting me in the mood to set sails and start plunderin'. And oh boy did I plunder
...until I lost and then the game immediately crashed
10/10 definitively GOTY, great art and even better voice acting
