LNJ, or Lucky Newt Jams, are jams hosted by yours truly. The games that rate high enough will be added into a bundle, with profits split equally between all creators. Please be sure to read through the Rules section before you enter a submission.
Theme
Although systems like Caltrop Core and games like The One Ring have done much to bring lesser loved dice into the spotlight, they're still not very big in the big industries. Inspired by a tweet that revealed just how many dragon players detest d12s, barely tolerate d8s, and think d4s belong on the floor, this jam is dedicated to the dice that don't see much action in the big industry.
To be clear, this includes pretty much all dice but d20s, d10s, and d6s. If your game focuses on d4s, d8s, d12s, or d100s, we would love to see it here! Other dice are allowed, but make sure those lesser loved dice are at least used just as much.
We look forward to seeing your creations!
Rules
All entries to this jam must:
- Be a TTRPG, or for a TTRPG. I'm not going to break out the old debate on what makes a TTRPG a true Tabletop Roleplaying Game. Use your best judgement. New mechanics and systems that other creators can hack will also be shown plenty of love, as long as they fit the theme. Speaking of...
- Fit the theme in some way. The mechanics should focus on d4s, d8s, d12s, and/or d100s. It can include the other dice if the system would benefit from it, but please make sure the lesser loved dice are getting at least as much love in your game, if not at the core of your game. Unusual dice are also allowed, such as d5s and d30s, but might not be as popular since those tend to be more difficult to get ahold of.
- Be your own creation. Please mind copyright laws, and understand plagiarism will not be tolerated. To put it simply, Swiper no swiping!
- Not promote hatred, violence, bigotry, etc towards any irl group or people. Now Zombies, on the other hand...
- Be accessible for free during the ranking process. This ensures that all games can be ranked. You can use Community Copies or as a (limited time) PWYW, whatever works best for you and your creation.
You can:
- Submit multiple games. The more, the merrier!
- Work individually, in pairs, or in teams. Just make sure credit goes where it's due.
- Submit old and/or new games. Old dice sets can be reliable, even if they're not as shiny as new dice sets!
- Have your game set as paid or PWYW. I recommend paid because you're putting work and time into this, but that's up to you.
- Make your game any length. Whether it fits on a business card or takes several pages, it's welcomed... though I might have to skim through small novels.
