Very interesting gameplay concept. Very Ame energy.
Nice surreal environments. Kinda wish the myth members at the end stood around Ame saying omedetou just for the memes, but I guess that has already been done in one of the previous jam games.
Needs a room restart when you fall off the stage. Its a little tedious to have to do it manually from ESC menu everytime.
Good job! Thanks for making this!

A very unique idea, fantastic work!  And you did a very good job building up the difficulty between levels, and teaching the player mechanics with the system.  I really liked the platforming concept of spawning clones to leap from, and fits Ame's time travel well!

My biggest complaint is the screeches, especially how they stacked up from pre-placed clones.  You should look into Unreal's Sound Concurrency system so it doesn't stack up like that.  Beyond that, fantastic!

Never thought the concept of using a copy of Ame as a platforms and have that said platform comes after me would be this intense! Oh, the horror!

I would love to see what if you could also build other members as special platforms would be like. As for now, this is an weird and fun idea!

Some of the platforming was a bit tricky to do as I found myself jumping too short into a clone's face instead of over her head. Skill issue I guess.

I eventually reached the end and also cleared the bonus level, which was a nice showcase of the holo EN models.

My favorite moment was the tower of Ame. Just endless Ame clones turning evil below your feet, chasing you up relentlessly. Scary stuff! Hahaha! I fell down from the top platform a couple of times though, that wasn't fun. With no shadow it was hard to aim and I basically bounced off the platform when I fell on the edge.

I wish there was more to the game, but it's a good start!

Developer

Thank you for playing!
Yeah I accidentally made a Death Stranding vibe with that tower of Ame haha.

Glad you enjoyed the bonus level too!

The shadow is good feedback I received from others. Didn't realize how important it was for a 3d platformer.

Thanks again for judging HoloJam!!

Ames on Ames is... kind of a fever dream. Using clones of yourself as platforms is definitely not a nice thing to do, so I guess it makes sense that they'd turn on you. I just wish they wouldn't screech like that. I was tempted to mute the game after listening to it for a while.

You've also got platforms in the last level that are very hard to see. (For me at least.)

But you've got the basics down! Movement is good, there's a generally eerie vibe to the level progression. The ending is hilarious. (Which may not be a compliment?)
Next time you try something like this, you might try going beyond environments that are just made of cubes and planes. You might surprise yourself with what you're able to do!

Cool take on the theme, the clones turning really keeps you on your toes
Jumping is pretty solid, though I really had to make sure I was falling straight down before using a right click or I'd never make it. Also a thick shadow directly under the player helps a lot with a sense of position in platformers like this, especially on the levels where the background makes it hard to judge scale
Good job!

Developer

Thank you!!
Oh yeah the shadow is a good idea.

I was a bit conflicted with the right click. Making it spawn forward was good for for moving and spawning, but it made it hard to use to catch yourself when falling down.

Fun platformer with a cool central mechanic! It took me a bit of time to realize that the Ame clones spawn based on where the player model is facing, not your mouse. The platforming is a little slippery too, are you using capsule colliders? A cylinder for a platformer might be a little less slippery since it would mean flat surfaces colliding together. Cute ending and I liked the secret level easter egg!

Developer

Ah yeah the player is a capsule collider, but the spawned Ames are box colliders. A cylinder for the player sounds like a good idea then. Thanks!

I wasn't sure how many people would find the easter egg, but it looks like everyone did haha

I like it when the game start with a cute platformer to straight up Death Stranding vibes.

Developer

haha thanks!

This is a cool idea. Spawning more smol ames that eventually corrupt and chase after you is a great way to do the theme. I just think that the hitbox for the ame platforms are too small, since I kept having a bunch of momentum, trying to spawn a smol ame under me and then just missing the ame.

Developer

Thanks!!

Hmm yeah making that Ame's hitbox bigger could work. I used to spawn that Ame closer, but you could Minecraft block your way up by jumping then right clicking.

To incentivize any would be players, I finished a speed run in 01:34 😉

I liked this one. The platforming was kind of tricky, but I got used to it as I beat more levels. I like that the Ame's you use as platforms turn corrupted and start chasing you. They could probably move a bit faster though when chasing you. Also, I really liked the bonus level at the end.

Developer

Thank you!! Yeah had the same thought with increasing move speed over time

Haha glad you got to see the last level!
