The polish is insane. The soundtrack, minimalistic visuals, shaders, movement feel, sound effects, color scheme and tutorial are all top notch. The thing I was missing was a pause menu. Otherwise my only gripe with the game is that enemies die in one shot so if you manage to rush them as they spawn they can never stack up and provide that bullet hell experience. A insanely fun game nonetheless.
I love bullet hells, and I thought you did a great job with this one. I feel like the fire rate for the reflection could have been a little faster, and maybe some more enemies to have the screen just full of bullets :). My score was 19250, not sure if that's high though.
Thank you!
There's a good game here, but it's held back by itself. The visual sfx go so far that the intro causes eye strain, and the on-hit slowdown lasts too long, giving the player way too much time to plan their next move. Not to mention that often I'd be getting slowdown for an enemy I've hit that I've already stopped paying attention to when I was in the middle of aiming at another target. Tone it down a bit and I'd bet it becomes much better, though!
Great feedback, thank you!
Neat game! I'd say the slow-motion effect is a little too long; breaks the flow of the game. The reflect ability also may need to be nerfed a bit, maybe the hit box should be a little smaller. Otherwise, this is a great concept for a fun arcade game.
I like the idea of making the reflection a bit more difficult to pull off.
Thank you for the feedback!
Great fun little game, cool sounds and visuals, but the CRT effect is a bit too strong for the tutorial screen, and the slow motion is super disruptive to gameplay and also kind of defeats the point of 88 seconds. Still, well executed and simple to pick up, nicely done
Thank you for the feedback!
I can't read this. I literally got a headache and my eyes started to hurt. I think its a shader(I am not sure). An accessibility setting to remove this will be good start for me. As I did not play the game, I did not rate it.
I’m really sorry that was your experience. I will be much more thoughtful with this kind of presentation next jam.
Thank you for the feedback!
My other team members rated your game and they did not have this problem. I think its my issue only.
fun idea, and a cool style. The reflection mechanic almost works too well due to bullets always being there (as expected in a bullet hell). The hit freeze is a bit long imho, and I think the music could be slightly more upbeat/dramatic. Otherwise it feels pretty polished, though, good job!
Thank you!
The reflect mechanic feels good, the soundtrack is awesome, and generally I had a good time. My only complaint would be about the massive slowdown when killing enemies. Given that it seemed to pause significantly longer when I killed two enemies at once, and it took a long time to load off of the main menu in the first place, I'm going to venture a guess and say the slowdown wasn't intentional but instead caused by excessive particle effects, and some further optimization could be in order. Regardless, I had a great time!
Thank you for the feedback!
Got a decent score of 20550. The overall gameplay is solid, and the slight variation in enemy attack patterns is nice. Really my only complaint is the immense slowdown/pause that happens when I kill an enemy it just went on for far too long and took me out of the experience every time. As others have stated lowering the time on the pause would greatly help with the game feel. Otherwise great job!
Great score! I definitely need to tone down the slow.
Thank you for the feedback!
Got a solid 25950 :) I really like the mechanic of reflecting bullets to attack enemies! We use a pretty similar mechanic in our game, so it's cool to see you thought of it too ! it seemes like you did everything by yourself, that's admirable, you are very talented ! I hope to see more of you in the future ;)
For people who play this genre regularly the pause after every hit is a bit much maybe lowering the duration or just making a slow effect. Overall i found it solid it was fun
I think I am going to tone it down in terms of length and extremity.
Thank you for the feedback!
My score was 7350 :) The pause/slow-down effect when you hit an enemy helped me to focus on the next enemy... so I liked that ... and I also like the retro art style/concept. The only thing that's a bit too much in my opinion is the screen shake effect. For me this a bit too stressful. But overall nice game :)
Thank you for the feedback :)
Well executed concept.
The long slowdown/bullet-time when an enemy is destroyed took me out of the flow of movement every time; it felt a bit like being punished for hitting targets.
Target spawned right on top of me multiple times, would prefer them to have a bit of distance.
The spawning enemies on top of the player is a good tip.
Thank you for the feedback!
I loved the visual presentation of the game, the simple graphics added to the appeal and ease of play. I also really enjoyed the reactive energy of the camera as well, very nice touch. However, I think there should have been a few options to play with the game's graphics to be easier on the eyes! Otherwise, incredibly fun game!
Thank you for the feedback!
I truly love the graphics and music in this game, they are just perfect, The game itself is really fun to play and has great mechanics. The different enemies and score system make it feel fun and replayable. The only downside I experienced was the hit pause being pretty long which kind of felt like lag and really interrupted the game flow. Overall a really polished game with awesome graphics!
Thank you for the feedback :)
Amazing game, super fun and packed with juice! I complete 88s without dying :D Score of 22425
I would suggest just lowering the hit pause a bit, as Ben said below. Maybe a slow motion effect instead of full pause.
Yeah, I definitely need to change the slow down.
Thank you!
Nice, tight game concept, executed very well! The controls are really smooth. I think a bit of gameplay balancing would go a long way, as it seems easy to get ahead of the spawning and prevent most of the bullet hell from getting going. The hit pause when destroying an enemy could be tweaked or toned down a bit too. Great aesthetics, great submission!
(Score: 18675 on my run - I did forget there's a dash button tho)
Oh I forgot to mention the music - it's great! I left it open in another tab while writing this :)
Yeah, I need to work out how to balance game jams. I always seem to go too easy.
Thank you for the feedback!
i really like the art style, it’s super clean. the bullet hell mechanics were really well done and i didn't experience much lag or any bugs. the 'reflection' mechanic was a nice take on the theme! great work!
Thank you!
Very stylish use of the minimalistic graphics, I like the CRT shader too! The bullet hell was fun and the reflection mechanic was pretty unique. I like the slowdown on a successful reflection, though I think the tween (if you’re using one) could be more gentle because it’s a little jarring when the slowdown activates/deactivates.
Overall a very stylish game that feels responsive and weighty when needed.
I am not using a tween but I definitely should be and I probably need to just generally tone it down.
