Game Description
A witch is haunting the people of the local woods. As a fairy, possess the lumberjack to help him avoid his fate for as long as possible! (Note added after submission: to possess the lumberjack, you must first know their name. Pressing x (on either a keyboard or XBOX gamepad) will pause the game and pull up a text entry field to type their name. Hint: their name is said in the game (remember his name!))
How does your game tie into the theme?
Fairies and hags feature in Celtic folklore. Admittedly the original concept ties into the theme better (the player would possess various NPCs and play on their beliefs to gain information/accomplish goals), but we overscoped :/

I couldn't figure this one out, I'm afraid - I tried possessing either the old woman or the lumberjack, but nothing seemed to happen. That aside, I do like the idea of video recordings talking you through the game - and maybe adding a bit of wry commentary - but the camera angle you chose wasn't as flattering as it could have been.
Everyone should put video's in the main menu like this. Good entertainment!
Not gonna lie, I had a few issues playing the game and encountered some bugs, but I was so very entertained with the presentation that I enjoyed myself despite it. Please keep making more games I'd love to see what you make next!
Game has definetly room for improvement, overscoping is something we all do, that said the video and the menu voices where pretty fun, congrats on your first attempt
This game is one of a kind. I feel like it's set a new standard for the future of gaming. Kidding aside, I feel like the concept was very cool, but the gameplay not really working is kinda a shame. Overscoping is something I think every game dev is guilty of, so hopefully there's a better functionality with your next game!
Also, I think the man in the videos was genuinely a great addition. Really made me feel like I was standing next to him as he was talking to me about the game
Thank you for your words of encouragement! This was my first time programming/designing for a game jam and I definitely learned a lot! Perhaps most importantly, don't hyperfixate on trying to make a robust implementation of a cool new system before making sure you have the fundamentals in place, or you risk that system not making sense in the final game, or just breaking on project export :/
I couldn't figure out how to possess so I just blocked the hag with the fairy. It surprisingly a good strat.
Not since Elden Ring did I feel like a game actively hated me as much as this. A truly great game, I assume the implementation of the wildcard 'Actions have consequences' was - I press the Run Game button = I get punished. I enjoyed getting berated in the options menu though, more games should use that definitely.
I liked the moonwalking hag and the menu!
The "possess" key didn't seem to work for me or I was trying to do the wrong guy. Seems like a fun concept though.
This was the best shitty game I had ever played. I really like it. I can not possess anybody and always lose. But man, the video talk on the menus were perfect, you should make a game with more of that.
nice experience
The thumbnail pulled me in and the talking man kept me intrigued. Truly innovational! Couldn't figure out the gameplay, but still had plenty of fun.
The talking man is me, I am a Game Jam demon in this month 😂
