This is so fun, cool & unique concept. A bit too hard, haven't made to the 50th floor yet, but I'll keep trying!

Is it procedurally generated? Coz sometimes I get impossible level not even above 10th floor. Maybe you can make it so the level still "feel" possible to complete. I say that but I have no idea how can I implement that myself hehe, awesome job!

Developer( 1)

I'm glad you had a good time with it! Thanks for the feedback; I don't think anyone's made it to the fabled 50th floor yet, so it's mysteries will remain guarded!

The levels are completely randomly filled, containing enemies and obstacles up to a number decided by your current Difficulty, so you've gotta use the Reroll to keep your Difficulty down, which also restocks all your abilities to help you get through a tricky floor. I may need to implement a minimum roll to prevent someone from being unfairly stuck with all 1's on their stats and not being able to save themselves!

It took a little bit to understand what was happening but once I did I had a lot of fun.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Probably the most consistent feedback I've received is understanding what's happening at first and how to make use of your abilities and rerolls. May need some light tutorializing, maybe in a 'first run' mode that introduces concepts?

Great work.  I really enjoyed playing.  The special moves feel really valuable.  Will definitely play again

Developer

Great to hear, let me know how far you can get if you do come back!

Absolutely, I wanted a 'six' on any value to feel like you were amazing at that one thing, so the ability needed to scale to that level.

Challenging, but very interesting idea! I liked playing it for a while!

Developer( 1)

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for taking the time!

It felt very good to outmanoeuvre the skulls. The amount of text on screen at one time and where it is placed can be a little overwhelming and makes your game hard to read. But overall, very cool entry, nice work!

Developer( 1)

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely the core experience I was looking to hit.

Planning on continuing work on this after the Jam, and absolutely need to consider how I communicate all the information I need the player to know about in a more easy to digest way.

I might actually play this a little more later. It's has lots of replay value and each and every playthrough is unique and challenging.

Developer( 1)

Very glad to hear you enjoyed it! Hope you do take some more time at it, be delighted if anyone actually makes it to Floor 50 (in hindsight, I wish I had set the final goal a little lower.)

I had a lot of fun with this - very replayable.

Developer

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! Definitely trying to go for the 'one more time' feel.

This was a creative and interesting idea! I very much so enjoyed it! It was fun and interesting! I didn't understand what the sneaking was but other than that the ideas on how to move were cool and interesting! it was overall a very good fun experience! cant wait to see what you do next!

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback!

Your Stealth stat just determines when enemies activate and start chasing you; on a 1, they'll chase you from six-tiles away, while on a 6, they won't move until you're next to them.

Definitely need to add some clearer communication on what each of the five stats do; high on my 'next priority' list for sure!

Couldn't figure out how to play. Half the screen was cut off, because I use a laptop :( It seems like it would be really fun, though. Good job :)

Developer

Unfortunate to hear, thanks for letting me know!

I originally made the game at a fixed resolution (novice errors!), and too long on of my second day fixing this up, but clearly didn't manage to get this transitioned over well enough!

Fun game!

It's nice to see procedurally generated puzzles that work well.

Developer( 1)

Glad you enjoyed it!

I was nervous about relying on randomness in the level design and, while it can be inconsistent to the intended difficulty, it seems to generally hit pretty close to the mark!

Fun puzzle game :3

might need to rise the music and sound effects volume :D

well made !

Developer( 1)

Thanks for the feedback!

Absolutely, the audio was driving me crazy in the last few hours before I had to submit. Learned a lot, so hopefully I can improve on this in the future!

Really good game ! I loved the different powers ! That seems like a strong foundation for a game to build upon, with better art, more diverse enemies, powerups, etc.

The generator can spawn some brutally unfair levels sometimes. :D

Stealth 6 is not that good since you can’t awaken enemies to lure them out. Maybe don’t make the enemies move during the turn they are awoken to balance things out ?

Developer( 1)

Thanks so much for the feedback! Delighted to hear you enjoyed it :D

Yeh, I'm thinking about pushing this one a little further and seeing what I can do with it.

Not a bad idea, this would definitely feel better to the player, more "Oops, I woke them up, better run" rather than "Oops, I woke them up, am dead." :P

That could make for a great mobile game, in the vein of Hoplite or Pixel Dungeon. :)

This is game is really fun to play!!!

Nice one! I just wish that levels are not randomly generated, since it makes some levels super easy and some very tough and this   contradicts with the "increasing difficulty" idea that you mentioned on GMTK Discord. But anyway, it was fun to play!

Developer( 1)

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Agreed, crafted levels would have nailed the feel I was going for better. I could at least alleviate the issue by tweaking the random generation to ensure more consistency, but with extra time I'd like to move it over to a pool of structured levels at each difficulty to pull from.

Yeah, it would take time but it also would make the game and gameplay much safer and in your control. Good job anyway!

Had a really fun time trying to puzzle my way out of tough spots. Though only made it to level 11. I liked all the different skills and found all of them useful - stealth seemed pretty powerful in the early levels but that didn't seem to matter as much once the board was filled. I didn't understand what benefit a high Magic ability gave, it seemed to always be 1 teleport. Would like to play more.

Developer

Great to hear, I'm delighted you enjoyed it!

Balancing the abilities was a real pain, and Stealth was my biggest concern (a stealth roll of six will normally get you a few levels.)

I think I need to communicate Magic's effect better; the higher the roll, the more options you get with your one teleport (one location with 1,2, two locations with 3,4, and three locations with 5,6.)

Super Fun!

Thanks for the comment! Great to hear you had a good time :)
