Insane for a game jam, game is genuinely fun and should be explored more!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! I wasn't sure if I should keep working on it or not, but I've seen so many kind comments like yours, that I'm definitely going to put more time into it and hopefully release it on Steam at some point as a full release. Keep an eye out for updates!

This is way too good to be a jam game, please tell me you're going to continue developing it this is incredible!

Also I encountered one small bug of the construction menu not updating sometimes when recieving resources, but it's a very minor thing and can be easily avoided by either pausing or clicking on a spot.

Developer( 1)

You just made my day, thank you so much! And yes, I will keep developing this as a matter of fact! I've got a bunch of ideas to expand on the game and address the feedback I got from people. The bug you mentioned has already been fixed! If everything goes well I hope to be releasing this on Steam with a lot more content and hopefully some more interesting mechanics as well. Thanks again for playing!!

This doesn't feel like a jam submission... It's THAT good.

The art is good, choices you make do feel like they matter. City management keeps you on your toes and you geniunely have fun, instead of "trying out a submission". One day I wish to be this efficient with my game making skills!

Thanks so much for your kind words!! I'm super stoked to hear you enjoyed it this much.

This is a interesting clone of Sid Midler's civilization!!

Played today for the livestream!!

Lovely game! Great assets and music sfx!
I was really immersed into the detailed lines added for each and every encounter. Would lose to play more to see all possible plot points and where the story of my city goes. It does seem like our choices would have consequences. Though the tutorial helped me to understand most of the things but I couldn't quite understand which event lead to me losing life support/water/people. I sometimes suspected it was that mysterious growth serum that I poured into some crops or perhaps it was when I shared food with some traveller or perhaps some trade related incident lead to some stranger perhaps poisoning the food? I dunno. That's what makes it so interesting. Also perhaps some sort of indication that the food/life support will last for so long would be good. Not sure if it was in the game already and I perhaps missed it.
I also noticed that the menu for Building construction doesn't get updated even when you get more materials across encounters. It updates only upon clicking the dome nodes. During my first run I thought there was something hindering me from building even though I had more than sufficient items so I speedran through encounters until I realised it wasn't updating. Overall it's a solid game!

As you already pointed out there's definitely some small bugs which can cause some things to be not as intuitive as they should've been. Glad to hear you still enjoyed your time with it though! I definitely want to address a number of things in the game, amongst which are the points you already made yourself. Thanks a lot for your feedback and keep your eyes peeled for an updated version in the future!

This game is very cohesive and polished, congrats! I was pleasently surprised by the extra layer of "puzzleness" you added by having the components be tetris-shaped instead of just having them be squares., so I had to put some thought into placing them. I see lots of potential here, great work!

Developer( 1)

Glad you enjoyed that extra layer! I started out by just adding 1x1 squares onto your city, but that did feel very basic in the end, so adding the Tetris-like shapes did end up feeling a lot more interesting. Thanks for playing!

Great job guys! I really enjoyed the strategic feel of this game. It looks very polished.

One thing I would improve if you plan to work more on it after the jam is to have the events be more distributed, I had a couple of runs (out of 4 I played) where at some point some events would repeat very often :)

Developer( 1)

Totally agreed with what you said! Right now the RNG that determines your next event is very basic, as I just didn't have time to flesh that out. Which does result in you just getting screwed sometimes unfortunately. Glad you still enjoyed it though!

This was pretty cool! I had a feeling Id like it just from the name. I got absolutely wrecked, but thats space for ya, she’s a harsh mistress! Good work!

Submitted( 1)

Dang, this one was very polished! Loved the presentation, and all the thorough tips and explanations were very much appreciated for a jam game. All the events felt very cohesive, and I like that the unavailable options gave you some direction on what you should aim to build. I do wish you could get resources more proactively though; since you're effectively reliant on events for building materials, it felt hard to do anything proactively at times.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I fully agree with what you mean and I'm planning to address that in a future build. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with it though!

Took me a minute to realize I could place buildings, and I had to restart the game with that in mind. However, I do feel like my buildings exploded a lot, and there wasn't really a good source of metal for me to rebuild them. Not sure if that's just me needing to git gud tho

Developer( 1)

You can build a Salvage Yard to convert plastics into metal, but apart from that pretty much all of your resources are going to come from events. And events are currently not the most balanced thing in the world, so I can understand why you were missing some of it. Appreciate your feedback and thanks for playing!

Very interesting game, although I feel a more hand-holding tutorial would be in order :) Good job!

Developer

You're totally right. In the span of the jam I only had time for a few screenshots with text, but a proper tutorial would definitely have helped newer players a lot better. Glad you enjoyed it nonetheless though, thanks for playing!

Great game ! The art and music are so well done, the gameplay is by far great. I think this one is one of my favorites so far ! Keep up the good work :)

A well-designed 3d functional game, that follows the interest of the players.

It's totally one of the great games in this genre

Keep up the good work.

Hope to see you playing my game :)

Interesting take on the theme. Building a scalable space station was fun. I also like how it constantly make you take choices with different tradeoffs.

The graphics are very nice. It's impressive that you've managed to make such a detailed 3d game for a jam.

The balancing was good though it was quite hard to  get people. All other resources were managable to get.  I also think that instead of having a single random event button, it'd be better to offer the player a choice between multiple events. The events can be very feast or famine so having some level of control would go a long way..

The BGM and SFX are very sci-fi and gave me the vibe of being on a spaceship.

Overall a very solid entry.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your in-depth reply, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've been thinking about how to give the player more control over the next events myself as well and remove a bit of randomness from it. Having multiple choices would definitely help in that regard, although it also might make it easier to dodge any negative encounters. What do you think? Would that make it too easy? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Perhaps you can try giving the player partial info about the events instead of telling them outright. You could base this on alien races. The event icons could show the race but not the what the event is. There could be a run metagame of picking choices of the same race. Maybe you could build rapport with a particular race and get items that boost favourable outcomes from that race's events.

The visual is on point, a lot of stuff are explained so i was never lost. It was cool to play good job !!

I like this game, it looks incredibly good! I have some suggestions though. For example the scrap yard recycles plastic even when there are no people working in it, which sometimes is annoying when you really need plastic. Furthermore I think it could be a little more balanced (I know balancing is extremely difficult...) since at one point I was just spamming next events for resources. Nonetheless I think it's a really cool game and definitely amazing for the short amount of time you had available. Good job!

Developer

Yea, I basically put all of my time into adding more mechanics and trying to get as much content. In the end balancing just went out the window and even though I did try to keep it in mind, it's just really hard if you don't have the time to sit there and carefully compare costs, rewards and events. It's definitely one of the most heard complaints from people and I totally agree with it. I also agree that you should be able to stop production buildings from costing resources, so I'll be sure to address that in a future update as well. Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it.

interesting take on the theme, I also did something somewhat similar haha

I somehow destroyed my own city oops.

Submitted( 1)

Strangely one of the only city builders I've seen so far, and as far as those go, this is a pretty good one. The art and music are extremely polished, and all the mechanics work extremely well. My one complaint would be that the difficulty is maybe a little overtuned, but honestly, it's hard to get the balance right in only four days when playtesting is basically nonexistent. This game is insanely well done for only 96 hours of work!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! I totally agree about the balance part, it definitely needs some tuning. Really happy to hear you've enjoyed it though! Thanks for playing

It's one of the more complex games this year! I cant seem to get too far with out dying, but I enjoy the process!
