Very nice game

Fantastic art & music! The walnuts gave me a good chuckle! Super clean and well polished, no real criticisms, just the normal zombie is a little too strong compared to his cost compared to the rest, but balancing is not a huge deal for a game jam game. Very impressive given the time constraint!

Thanks! Very appreciated!

what software did you use for the hand drawn graphics?

Developer( 1)

I used krita with a wacom intuos medium drawing tablet. The animations are a bit weird because I didn't make the legs and arms into 2 separated pieces to animate...

The art is really cute and pretty funny! I also like the concept, in a way its kind of nostalgic. But the other user was right, it is pretty easy to win just by stacking levels. Game design wise, you had some great ideas like making it so that you get awarded points for each plant eaten, so you're encouraged to spread out. However, the game is short and easy enough that you still didn't need to do that because you would win anyway. Still, really cool concept and game design!

Yeah... I kind of knew that it was going to be an issue but at the time I didn't have any ideas excepted the reward for killing plants and to use the mowers which would force you to attack one row two times )because it would kill every  zombies in a row), but the game doesn't have real-time zombie placement so you can't attack two different times in one row. Now that the jam is over, I realized there is actually an official game mode in pvz that is exactly like my game... but better. They solved the problem by changing the win condition to having to reach the end in all rows forcing you to attack in all of them.

Check out my entry too

I had the same idea but thought I was over scoping and ended up making an even more complicated game lol.Good game though.

Cool game, but clearly shows why the original games zombies were stupid by attacking from many rows. can be easily beaten by stacking on one row. I like however that the leaf cost associated with placing zombies encourages to save your materials and take risks.

In fact, it is quit easy to beat the game with the current win condition... I thought of making it so that you have to defeat all plants to actually succeed a level instead of just having to reach the house like in the real game. This would have unlocked quite a hole lot of new level design questions which I had no time for unfortunately...
