Wow, those graphics are really cool! Love the brickout idea!

I liked this a lot! It maybe could have done with some sort of tutorial, but the explanations of the blocks were good enough for me to generally figure out how to play. This feels very polished, which I like. Great work!

This is excellent for 48 hours.  It plays very well.  There a few quality of like features that would be great to include; it can be hard to tell what brick type you have selected, upgrading bricks feels like an afterthought, the ball can get stuck launching in the same patterns (creating a loop), it is unclear when any brick other than the standard one is upgraded without hovering over it, etc.  Awesome work.

this is so polished, i cant believe what you guys achieved in 48hours. awesome work!

Looks great and plays well, although it does quickly lose its charm.

I didn't quite get how the upgrading mechanic works. Sometimes I was able to make it work and other times I didn't and I had no idea what I was doing wrong. At first I was also overwhelmed by all the different types of bricks I had. I think having each type should be slowly introduced throughout your first session as you keep playing until you can play the entire level with every option.

Can I call it a tower defense game? Because it's totally a tower defense game.

Developer( 1)

I do agree with this ye. One person on our time wants to remake it from the ground up, and this is definitively a feedback that's being taken in consideration to make the game better :D

Thanks for your feedback !

Developer( 1)

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!

Also, although there are no "towers" per say... you can totally call it a tower defense!! :D

I really enjoyed the game. Had some nice visuals, though i am slightly questioning as to why the music is so relaxed when you are literally in an enclosed room with a ball trying to kill you.

Also my final amount of points was 1160p :)

Developer

Haha glad you liked the visuals, I guess it'd be nice to have a more tense music that plays atleast when your core is exposed or something ^^

Thanks for the feedback!

What a cool idea! Love the concept. As previously mentioned, I think it needs an intro level to help get you used to the mechanics, as there was a lot of choice info and the gameplay started right away without warning or instructions. With some difficulty scaling, this would be a really fun little game! Great work!

Very well polished, I just didn't really get how I was supposed to play the game. I tried buying more expensive blocks, but I couldn't really understand their purpose. I guess the magnet was supposed to make the ball go towards it, but the effect wasn't that clear. The game is really well made, with clearly a lot of work put into it, but the gameplay just wasn't working for me. If you decide to work on this project after the jam, maybe add a tutorial that would explain the functions of each block and more or less how you should place them to win the game. As I said, the game is extremely well executed, but the concept was just not clicking for me personally.

Thanks for the feedback!

yeah that would be for the best to include a more in depth tutorial for a post jam version, currently we only have popups that explain  what each brick does when you hover them in the shop or on the field ^^'

thanks for playing :)

Wow this is so incredibly polished, and with some beautiful music too! Really liked the concept of magnet bricks. :)

Developer

Glad you liked the game! Yeah the bricks that alter the balls trajectory were one of our main ideas, nice to see they are appreciated :)

Expected to see more flipped versions of existing games but haven't seen breakout till now. Good job on the gameplay, easy to play and understand but still isn't too easy. Good work!

I like that it has tower defense mechanics of buying parts and placing them strategically but it is very well extrapolated to the classic arcade game. It also gives a lot of life that has so many different types of bricks. And graphically it's very good! Very good job, congratulations team!

Developer( 1)

I'm frankly elated that you found these points in particular positive!

That's exactly what we wanted to push, I agree, our artist really knocked it out of the park with such a short time limit :D

Thanks for playing! (also your entry rocks i love it <3)

Thanks for the feedback!

The name for your game was actually one of our name ideas as well :D I'll give it a try right now !

really love the idea, but ball is too aggressive for me lol
I enjoyed anyway! nicely done

Very cool concept and good execution!  There are some balance issues though.  It's a bit too fast paced to really plan out a complex strategy, and you can actually just perpetually stay completely safe by just surrounding your core brick with just a single layer of gold bricks and just replace them when they are destroyed.  Reverse breakout games are a bit tricky because building up with a ton of bricks can actually make you more vulnerable because then the ball gets stuck in your back lines.

All the different types of bricks are incredibly cool.  I hope you keep iterating on this!

Developer

Thanks for the extensive feedback ! I entirely agree with it :p

Glad you enjoyed it ! At least one of us wants to try more stuff with this concept, so we'll see !

Developer (1 edit)

The definetly are a lot of balancing tweaks to do to make this a full game, and some bricks are straight up OP because they create a feedback loop or just have a very strong effect. A Speed dial is something we considered to give the player time to setup defenses or fast forward when they want, didn't make it in unfortunately... ^^'

Glad you like the concept and the brick variety, thanks for the feedback!

One of the best games I've seen in the jam so far, really well designed and the art looks amazing

I had a blast playing this! It felt really satisfaying to protect the star, discover the different types of bricks. Congrats!

Smart gameplay, well balanced and very well polished.

Really liked this entry. Would be nice to have a leaderboard and Web version, though that’s mostly nitpicking. (we also made breakout-like game, but with different approach :D)

Developer

Web version could have been possible, but it's now too late I guess x/. The leaderboard was planned but as always, we didn't have time to implement it sadly :/. Thanks for the feedback :D !
