The game is pretty fun, but my attention was caught by the main character. She's so cute!
Also, nice music and levels!
Really well executed - both mechanic and presentation. So many 'aha!' moments. For quality of life: 1) allow me to reset the level completely 2) allow me to choose a room to go back to once I've gotten to the end. I missed the part where I needed to collect the collectables and had to back track all the way then redo the levels again. Other than that, really awesome work! 10/10!
I'm proud! Though, there are multiple makeshift game functions at hand, hence only being able to properly restart certain levels, for instance. And the opportunity to backtrack didn't work as ideally as I had hoped it would, since you essentially lose progress. Misstep on my part, but thank you regardless!
I sometimes went through the walls, but this is a great game ! I don't really think we can call that "joined together" though
Excellent puzzle plattformer! As others already mentioned, it would be really helpfull to get more time and chances to get familiar with the rules, when and how you can hook blocks. But after getting over this hurdle, the puzzles were really fun and mostly intutive. I also really like the minimalist (almost) 1 bit art style. Is kinda cute and oddly eery at the same time.
I can imagine that! Getting into the top 100, against almost 6000 other games AND then also being picked as featured game, that’s a real achievement. But as said, I think your game absolutely deserves it! So, any plans to continue Phasing Puller? Theoretically you just could just fix the bugs, add more levels and you would have a complete game experience. (heck I’d argue it already feels like a complete game with a beginning, middle and end)
No worries, I’d say it’s a huge improvement to our last gamejam endeavor and the reception seemed positive overall. Again, thank you for your kind words, just hearing that someone really enjoyed our game means a lot to me. gg!
Yes! I plan to do that -- though, with an emphasis on 'plan'. I've got some general ideas for it; currently, I'm revamping the movable blocks, but it's quite a hurdle to get it to work right. If I manage, I reckon it's smooth sailing from there on and out. And, since I'm restarting the project with the same principles, the bugs will be different (cough), and there will be more room for additional features -- and more rooms. In short, I'd like to expand the game anew.
Really solid jam game - smart main mechanic and level design. There is a consistent adherence to the minimalist art style and music that is refreshing. The movement is responsive and asks the player to pay attention, but doesn't become a focus of the game which is a good balance.
The only thing that holds back this game is it comes across as asking a lot of the player for a game jam game. I was interested so I kept trying to figure out how things worked, and I enjoyed when I figured things out, but I could also see many players leaving before they reach those points.
I think you should turn this into a full game. You may do very well in this jam, but I think it fits much better into a deep puzzle game on steam or mobile. Overall, really great job and I wish you well, seriously.
I would love your rating / comments on my game too so I can see what I can improve.
Golly! These are buckets of insight. Firstly, thank you for that! I'm surprised that you reviewed it from a game designer's standpoint; you've among other things made a point I hadn't realized about the movement, which I'll have to keep in mind for similar future projects.
Moreover, I definitely see the issue with presenting the mechanic. I believe I could have made it more clear with more experimental opportunities for the player, in due time. Next jam, I'll get quicker to the point!
I'd love to take this a step further. We'll have to see how that goes. Regardless, thanks again!
I loved this game. The level design is super clever and it uses the main mechanic very well. Rewarding ending, cute graphics and nice audio.
The only problem with the game is the tiny screen, but otherwise I loved it. Congratulations for this solid entry.
This game is incredible, I really enjoyed it! Love those little hints in the environment, that indicates where you should stand to hook blocks. Very creative idea and cool implementation!
It took me a minute to figure out how the hook works. Absolutely nice work! I love the music and the visuals! The controls seem very responsive too. The core gameplay idea was creative.
Nice game!
Utterly delightful puzzle platformer with excellent level design. I scratched my head on a couple but managed to make it through with all three... Space Invader guys? One of the best of the jam, absolutely top notch entry here.
Great visuals and puzzles. Occasional glitch where the I was randomly transported offscreen.
Wow, cool game.
I have only few feedback for you:
First, on an european keyboard the x and z buttons are far away from each other. So it is a little tricky to play.
Second, it tooks me a while to understand, that your hook must pass a barrier before he can crap things. I totally see the reason for it, but maybe there is a better way to communicate it.
Great Level Design and pacing. Really love the first collectable placement.
I'll have to be more general with input-buttons, perhaps having multiple buttons for one input. Thanks for the heads up! That really helps!
And I see your second issue; my friends experienced the same thing ... Definitely going to create better clues next time!
Super-thorough feedback -- much appreciated! That first collectible piece is one of my proudest moments.
Fantastic little game, having the hook shot have to phase through walls makes for some really sweet puzzling!
5/5.....just 5/5 Super fun. Although the theme is missing a bit, but I had fun playing through the whole thing. great job.
