Very soothing, atmospheric and imaginative experience, I'm glad to have found it! Would love to play more, well done!
With a voice over, it could be maybe taken even further, to a purely textless interface. Possibly even the walking-enabled parts could be visualized by brightening the whole screen a bit, to be able to drop any UI elements completely.
That's great to here!! Thank you for playing and the feedback! I originally wanted to do voice-over, but I know it wouldn't turn out very well if I did them myself, haha. I might turn this concept into a game that even blind people could play, which would be very interesting! Thanks again :)
Awesome!
It was really relaxing, which makes this stand out from most other games submitted for this jam. I really like how you used the limitation of having no graphics to emphasize on the peaceful setting of the game, and it really helps to put your intended message across.
All in all, this is one of the best uses of the theme so far.
I'm so glad to hear that <3 these kinds of comments make my day. Thanks so much for playing!!
Really cool idea. It is cool to see how different people worked with the theme.
I actually created a game kind of like this for the jam. Of course nowhere near this level of execution.
Thank you for the experience.
Thanks for the kind words!! I should remember to check out your game! I actually thought the theme was quite hard, but so many people were really creative indeed!
This is a really interesting concept and I like your execution. I definitely found it difficult at times to focus in on the sound I was trying to get back to, or rather, I could hear the sound but it wasn't clear where exactly I should walk to because it felt like I was already on top of the sound (for example heading back to the fire for tea). I might try exaggerating the critical sounds in the environment. Also - and you might not want to do this because it would break away from the soundscape - but I think adding a bit more feedback for navigating the environment, like having an audio cue play when you enter in a audio area, like a ding, or maybe even tie the cue to the environment, like particularly loud fire crackle. Just something to think about, not necessarily something that will make it better though. Any who, I really enjoyed it!
Thank you for playing and the awesome feedback, you make some great points here. I definitely debated on having a ' super focus mode' where you single out the important sound you're supposed to go to by holding a button, but eventually chose not to implement this in favor of a more pure and immersive soundscape. I might think about adding more hint-sounds if I ever do something similar to this in the future
It's a good thing that you not only thought of a great idea, but incorported it well too. Can't wait for full version!
Aw, thanks for the kind words! Super happy you liked it man.
It feels a bit too much like you're trying to pad a story that fails at show-don't-tell through the gameplay, but only a bit.
Thanks for the feedback, yeah it's pretty experimental, I've never done anything like this before. How do you think I could change it for the better?
given how small the problem is, any change could easily ruin the whole game ... sorry.
Loved the game. It was a little difficult for me to make out the sound of the fire whilst under the birds thoug, but once I got a little distance from them it was clear enough.
thanks a lot for checking it out! Im sorry if its a bit hard. I didn't have time to playtest at all, really :P glad you could still make it though!!
This is really well done! I sincerely hope this becomes one of the top games.
so happy to hear that, thank you so much for playing <3
Great job! Really creative game. Using both the mouse and keyboard might be hurting it slightly though.
Is there a reason why you didn't use Q and E for turning instead of the mouse? Dunno, just feel like it would be a better fit for a calming experience like this.
thanks for playing man! Im glad you enjoyed it. I haven't tried the keyboard only controls to be honest. I thought it might make it harder because you can less quickly turn your head around to listen for sounds.
Fair point :3 I just feel like using the mouse and keyboard whilst trying to focus on listening for a specific sound can be a bit hard.
The hardest part imo was finding the birds in the beginning of the game.
Thanks for the feedback!
Amazing, Such great use of the theme and a beautiful message.
Thank you so much for the kind words dude! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Fantastic experience, loved it!! So unique.
Thanks so much again for playing. Really appreciate that you enjoyed it. I was really on the fence about whether people would be able to complete it, and you were quite literally the first playtester I had, haha. #Finishit
