So I revisited and tried on PC. I kept running into the same crash on HTML, but the download ran smoothly.
I like a lot of what you have here and commend you for tackling this type of game. It must be a beast to code. I think you can add a lot of polish by focusing on UI. I wish I knew more clearly which of my player characters still needed to complete a turn, or I wish there was the option to skip turn. Moving multiple units at once would be great too.
Overall, a really impressive entry. Love the attention and care that went into the intro. I want to know more about this world.
Glad you could end up trying it out! I still haven't been able to reproduce the HTML5 crash. I have no idea what is happening there.
nice game, I really like the duplicate ability. I can imagine amassing a giant army of steves before making one big push for victory.
the game was great! but for some reason after a while the screen turned black (could just be smth with my laptop tho)
Were you playing on a Mac perchance? I have only had one other person mention this and they were using Chrome on Mac. I haven't been able to recreate it at all, I'm so sorry!
no i was playing on windows
Dang, whelp. I'll have to keep trying to break it haha
I like the idea, and turn based games always have an extra point in my book. There are too few of them
I love the concept (I had the same idea originally). I hope you win the whole competition(Unless I move to the next round, then I'm gonna win)
Cool game I guess.
Interesting choice of genre for this jam! Hard to gauge the uniqueness of the ability as I think turn-based gameplay would depend a lot on the interaction between the various systems. Curious to see where you go with this!
Love the duplicate mechanic, i can see it being really broken. A spell Idea. what if you have a spell that gets stronger when multiple duplicates are close to each other
The poem is excellent! I love the effort put into things like that. The gameplay part of it didn't quite seem to work for me. It bugged out the moment I tried using anything with mana. Props for attempting some cool abilities in a turn based RPG style though!
Oh no! What seemed to go wrong with the spells? I know I found quite a few bugs during the process but I was hoping I caught most of them!
Glad you liked the poem haha. I was going for something sort of like the beginning of Trine but I'm obviously not anywhere near that talented!
for me but it might just be my browser it would not let me skip the intro part when I had reloaded the page but overall cool idea but there are some timing parts that could use a little work in the intro, also the instructions could be shorted a bit or at least given in smaller pieces
i like how clones take half of the players hp
Hmm, I'll have to look in to it not letting you skip. I think I set the timer to 3 seconds though so you might want to make sure you are holding it long enough! What browser are you on?
And yeah, thanks! I knew duplicating a player, while unique, would need to be limited in some way so splitting the HP , MP, and armor between the clones seemed like a good choice. I'm hoping it can lead to some neat puzzles or tactics in future iterations!
wait sorry it works I was just confused because my brain went to space and held that down and that does something else
The poetry in your story telling is a really nice touch to start the game. I also like how you can clone the character and am very excited to see how your strategy game will develop over time
Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words on my cringy voice-acting haha
Intially was a bit scared by the large amount of instructions, but wasn't that hard to understand by just playing.
Fun intro!
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah I definitely could have spent more time on the art and controls to make it a little more intuitive but in the end it worked pretty well. I have never done a turn based system on a grid before and for some reason I decided to start with this jam entry haha!
