In Discord, the topic came up whether the game art has to be selfmade as well.

Given that there are some new devs joining this competition I went for a CC0-licensed art pack from https://opengameart.org/

Someone else went with https://craftpix.net/

Could you state your guidelines using pre-made art?

For sound I would hop to https://freesound.org/

Thanks for starting this discussion here! Yes, you are free to use any pre-existing assets to build your game.

The CC0 license is perfect, also remember to follow the requirements and mention the original author if the given license expects that.
