The strong personality and audio of the game really stood out to me, perfect for the size of this apparent demo/POC (according to the sign at the end of the game). I also enjoyed the simplicity of the controls.
Maybe it would make more sense when fully developed to the intent of the creators, but the combat seemed almost entirely unneeded and I would have preferred to have another puzzle or two instead and I think it would have benefitted from focusing on the core mechanic. While I enjoy the look of the game there was a point when I was a little bit lost on what to do (pushing the gravestone) so maybe a little more focus on UI would have helped there.
Beautiful audio! The music, and the sfxs, *chef's kiss*. I liked the puzzles were solved by playing in specific melody, though I believe the combat system could be more polished. Good job!
Had to go through the source to make sure I didn't miss another song (secrets and all :) I would love to see more songs that do more things. Good work overall!
The visual style reminded me of the demo version of the game that eventually became Hollow Knight, which is very nice. The music is great and the lyre idea is great. Despite the demo's brevity, it's filled with enough well-thought-out details to make it feel like a full experience with a subtle narrative in the background. In short, I really enjoyed it! Great job!
Thanks for the kind words!
great style and mechanic was exciting but nothing happened couldnt get anywhere. Desperately needs some indication of what you can interact with, especially when you have so many objects on the level that do nothing when interacted with. Even the signs did nothing - the only thing that responded for me was the 'rotting log'. After walking around the level a few times, still blocked by the other log, I gave up.
I found a ghost, but nothing had any effect on it. Tried all the controls.
Thanks for checking out our game and sorry you got stuck! Did you try pressing Z to interact with signs and the ghost? If you decide to give it another shot, try reading the backs of signs too :)
Ah! Right, that was MUCH too obscure :). But knowing that each side of the sign is separately interactable, and some sides do nothing, others work, was a big help. I think at minimum you need to highlight the sign with an outline color to show it will be interacted (or not) and probably use a different color for different sides (top vs bottom) to hint that its worth doing both.
Really liked discovering and using the song - would love to have more songs to learn and use.
Snakes were bugged - 9 in 10 never moved so just walked to them and spammed LMB.
Thanks for the feedback! Super helpful to know what is confusing/not working well and needs refactoring :)
Really good ambience. I got stuck for a bit until I read the sign. Was there a way to interact with the bird?
not yet! We're planning to finish it up soon
The fantastic sound design contributes significantly to the atmosphere. Nice.
