I died so fast! I think a little more explanation at the beginning would have helped. Nice atmosphere overall!
I never played Phasmophobia and it was a little difficult for me to know what to do. In the first room I took all the items on the left but didn’t check the computer in my first run so didn’t have access to the manual or anything so at some point I just died without knowing why. Two suggestions: Can you add some instructions in the game page, can you make the text boxes scroll up and down a little faster?
A scary atmosphere and the graphics are successful.
It's great!
Cool game! Playing it felt just like playing Phasmophobia, so great work on capturing the feel of the game! I also really liked the Gameboy art-style. Good job!
Great game wish it had full screen tho
Probably the most convincing gameboy emulation I've seen in the jam :) The game is super fun and genuinely creepy at times. The hand-print in the ghost room genuinely made me jump. Great job dev!
Super cool art, took me back to the old game boy days. really cool idea I had a lot of fun playing this.
As someone who grew up with playing some of the original Gameboy games and someone who has played phasmophobia a lot. I can say you nailed it with the feeling of both, with the atmosphere and how it plays out. The art is great as the game looks like a legit Gameboy game. Also running away and hiding from the ghost reminded me of the game Ao oni. The music needs some fixing as it became unbearable to hear after a short while of playing, though the hunt song was a nice addition to alert the player.
The game is understandably less scary than Phasmophobia but it would be cool if there was some sort jumpscare when the ghost caught you. Dialogue boxes felt very slow and would feel much nicer if it was faster or even instant, I believe most original Gameboy games had instant appearing dialogue boxes but could be wrong. Post game score screen could have more suspense in telling you if the ghost was correctly identified, for example: The Ghost was a....Demon. The post game score screen could also include stuff like the bone, currently it wasn't very clear what the bone did or was for, in Phasmophobia it gave more score.
These are just small addition I believe would improve the game but other than that It felt like the perfect Gameboy version of Phasmophobia. Great job!
This is all amazing feedback, thank you so much!!!! I will definitely be taking notes here to improve, I appreciate the suggestions immensely. I'm glad you enjoyed it and very happy to hear I delivered on the atmosphere and artwork :)
Wow, what a fun and unique mix of phasmaphobia and the gameboy! Once I figured out how to get it working on my computer, I had such a fun time playing through it. You interpretted the wildcards in such a unique way too, so great job on that! My one suggestion would be to make the speed of the game (walking, talking) a bit faster, especially since this is a game players will be going through multiple times, and the slowness can get on your nerves after a while. Other than that, phantastic game!(see what I did there?)
I'm glad you enjoyed! You can press the A button while text is typing to auto-advance and just read, but I will absolutely be speeding that up a bit after voting. Thank you so much for the great feedback!
Very unique idea!! It's very atmospheric, even with the limitations of a gameboy game. Looking forward to future updates :))
Very fun! I love phas with friends and this turned out to be a really fun time. So much nostalgia, and even more impressive that this all still fits in a GB rom. Great work!
Didn't realize Phasmophobia had a GameBoy port haha. Good job!
Surprizing good atmosphere for a gb game, tho I wish dialog and movement where a tad faster.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for the feedback, I'll speed things up a smidge after voting ends 😁
What a delight! I'm a big Phasmo fan so I was really looking forward to playing this and it didn't disappoint. Really gave me nostalgia for my old brick of a gameboy. Can't believe you did this all yourself! Only thing I'd change is maybe button layout -- adding options for 'A' and 'B' to be on the right side of the keyboard to mimic the gameboy a little more.
I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed it and that it didn't disappoint!! I do have J set as 'A' and K set as 'B' which are somewhat on the right side of the keyboard, but I can consider another binding for sure! Thank you so much!
You know, I see that now on your control notes -- that's on me! In that case, no notes :)
This was pretty cute! The art was nice and nostalgic, while still reminding me of modern game-styles that have gotten popular lately. It was a little slow to get through, both the movement and text. Navigating the menus was also rough. Maybe the inventory button could have swapped between two items instead of bringing up a whole new window?
I didn't know I had to circle the guess once I had it narrowed down, so I got a game over, but then restarted, guessed the same ghost, and won. Curious if it's always the same ghost? I did notice the room changed.
Overall, an impressive demake. Congrats!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! This is great feedback and I'll take it into account for post-jam updates :)
The ghost and room are randomized each game, so it's definitely possible to get the same ghost back to back. Happens fairly often with only 4, I'm hoping to add a few more to lower the chances of this after voting!
You guys KNOW you were cooking with this one. You took all the wildcards seriously too, but not as a hindrance, more like something you carry up hill to make you stronger. It's amazing to see something this polished come out of a game jam. It did take me a second to learn the rules, but this is fantastic.
That means so much, thank you!!! And I am simply one man :)
I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it!!
Great retro artwork on this one! It took me a little while to get accustomed to the controls and mechanics, but once I got the knack for it, it was good fun. I did a few plays - none of them ended particularly well for me lol
Nice work!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if you had to get friendly with a few ghosts! Thank you so much!
Didn't expect to encounter a gameboy game, more so for it to be a phasmophobia like game. Really polished, lso combines a feel of phasmophobia with rpg-maker horrors very well. Great job, really impressive!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you so much :)
charming game with classic art styles, the sound design really makes it more scary and feels curious. feel like the game overall speed can be faster (e.g. movement, chat box), however kudos for the level design aspect of it! Didn’t really expect to find a pentagram in the next room.
This is really good feedback, thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it overall! :)
