I enjoyed playing this game. The music was great the score mechanic was satisfying and the art was well done. The gameplay loop was satisfying and overall great game. :D

Developer

Thanks. Nice to hear you enjoyed my game!

I liked all of the different soundtracks used. This was a very fun game.

Developer

Nice to hear you liked the music and enjoyed the game

I liked the music for this game a lot and the ui is very well done. I feel like the time spent on the near miss function could have been used on some more important features of the game. Since you decided to add the near miss function it would be nice to know where the near miss was on the screen and maybe instead of have a little ting maybe a sound of danger or warning since you almost just got blown to bits. Very nice game though.

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback. I'm glad you liked the music choices and the UI.

I agree that the near miss function needs working on a bit more. I will be releasing a post-jam update that changes how it works a bit (amongst other changes).

Wow! thats a 5/5 in all categorys for me. I would straight up pay for this on steam because im a sucker for those types of games :D Theme is on point - controller feels nice - Visuals are really fitting the theme and the colors are chosen nicely (with the exeption of that one rock that looks almost exactly like the background :D) the upgrades feel rewarding and impactful and also have a nice pace to unlocking them... and of course the music is absolutely s l a p p i n g. :D Its very clear you are a rather experienced developer.

I got 211906 Core-Score on attempt 20 :D Thanks for Making and Uploading this! Awesome Job

Developer

Thanks for the high praise! Glad you enjoyed my submission so much and congratulations on making it onto the leaderboard!

I'll look into replacing that one asteroid that blends in with the background.

This was my 7th Jam and I've just passed one year of Game Jamming. Nice to hear I'm improving ;)

hem hem you are going up not down therefore not going deeper

At first I was really confused as to why I was failing all the time till I noticed the fuel bar, and when I got upgrades it got a little better :D I'm not so good at these games but it's a timeless type of project, nicely done! I would focus on gameplay feel and upgrading the UI :)

Developer( 1)

Thank you for the feedback.

Sorry to hear you found the game confusing. I'll look into whether I can explain the gameplay better in any way.

I will also see what I can do about upgrading the UI (although I am but a humble programmer).

#7 On the leaderboard and I'm proud of that! Very addictive, I could easily spend more time on this if I didn't have more games to rate. Great work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed, and well done for getting on the leaderboard.

Very addictive game, I grinded till I got first, then a score that I couldn't beat lol

Good sound and graphics, but there is lag near the end when there is a lot going on

Overall great game and adding the leaderboard definitely made me play a lot !

Developer

Thank you very much, nice to hear you enjoyed playing my game!

Sorry about the lag at the end, it will hopefully be fixed in the Post-Jam Launch/Update of the game.

Great game ! We can really feel the inspiration from "Learn to fly" and all, i love those kind of games, ended up second on the current board ! It becomes quickly chaotic towards the end but still very much enjoyable

Developer( 1)

Happy to hear you enjoyed it! Well done on the highscore too.

The chaos at the end is a bit of a bug. Hopefully I can fix it in the Post-Jam release.

I've really enjoyed your game (you can see it by my name on the Leaderboard).

I really like the competitive thing with the leaderboard, and the epic music!

But there is so many bad things, likes bumping into asteroids slow down a lot our speed, and near to the end is literally very chaotic.

But it's good game and I hope you will making more fun and good game like this one !

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the game and the epic music. Congratulations on the Highscore!

I'll bear in mind the bad things. The chaos at the end is a bit extreme and not at all what I planned ;)

I'll likely reduce the penalty for hitting an obstacle in the Post-Jam update too.

At first I played this without sound, and holy cow the music made a big difference! The game is satisfying and fun, and has a nice difficulty curve. I played it until i’d nearly upgraded everything!

To improve the project I’d focus on gamefeel, and the near miss mechanic. The near miss mechanic was the part I had the most fun with, and what kept me playing. What could you do to make near misses even more satisfying? A combo system, speed boosts, and particle effects come to mind. You could take inspiration from SUPERFLIGHT, in which you gain more points the longer you stay in danger. The 10th near miss in a short period could reward way more points than the first. Showing how many points you get for each near miss could also feel good.

Otherwise you could improve gamefeel by making the launch have more impact, for example by zooming out upon launch. You could also further emulate super toss the turtle by having fuel drops and only having the player lose after a few seconds without fuel. Oftentimes in super toss the turtle you think a “run” is over, only to barely stumble over a launch pad or something similar.

Thank you again for a great comment, and good luck!

Thanks for the detailed feedback. Glad you liked my game, and the feedback I left on yours.

Working on the near miss system some more sounds like a good shout. I'll check out SUPERFLIGHT too for inspiration. I also agree that some more feedback about how many points you get for near misses is needed.

I'd forgotten about the refuelling mechanic in Toss the Turtle. That would be interesting to work into my game, I'll look into whether it works given the level of control you have over the ship.

Thanks again, and best of luck to you too!

Really reminds me of those web games I used to play! The graphics and sound are amazing, and the game is quite addicting!

Developer

Thanks! I was hoping it would be reminiscent of games like Toss the Turle/Learn to Fly.
