Thank you for streaming our game!
Really interesting idea! It's also very impressive you just learned how to make a game.
There is definitely a lot of room of improvements, but most of my problems reside in where to go and how to do things properly since the instruction in the description is so minimalistic. Don't be afraid to put how to play in description if you don't have enough time to put a proper how to play in game.
On where to go: it's mainly I didn't realize I could interact with the barn itself from "behind" it since the door is technically positioned lower. The fence was more intuitive for me to reach out to. So it's more to terms of how the art communicate. I like the "?" UI that pops up to show that you can interact with it tho.
A little art tip: try to make sure you highlight character/objects to make them stand out from background. Either by color contrast or giving them outlines so player know immediately what can be interacted with and where they are easier at all times.
I also personally would love a faster movement speed for the human, since it's a bit too tedious to walk through the map to open gates for the dog.
Really well done first game draft. Thank you for making it! Btw Leo is good boi give him pet pet and a "good boi" <333
Thank you for trying it out and for the helpful tips!!! I think I'll add some color contrast effect to the objects you can interact with too! Leo is right here, just told him he's a good boy and now he wants an extra treat!! lol
Really impressive for your first game! I'm sure you've learned a lot through the whole endeavor :D One piece of feedback is that the player is slow which feels bad, especially given how large the map can be. Another thing for future jams or games in general - music and sound greatly change how polished a game will feel. I think the art can be bad (just call it style), gameplay could even be boring (idle games exist), but having sound will instantly add responsiveness to feel more like a finished package.
Still though, this is much better than my first project and I hope you continue making games! Really cute dog too, hope to see the others in a game one day ;)
Thank you so much for the advice and the kind words!!! I am actually very excited to do the music and have one song partially started but I couldn't get it to a point where I wanted to share it yet by the time the jam ended. My plan for that is to have one 12 min song to match the length of the day. Maybe I'll add more as time goes on. I've made songs before but no experience with sound-scapes, but I'm really excited to get into all of that!
I like the sheep and the doggie. I feel like the game right now feels a little slow. The player movement could be faster.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I was considering making the Shepard a bit faster but now I’m sold
It is so fun to play as the doggo tbh , keep up the work i would love to see this game polished!
thank you so much!!!!! I’m really excited to finish it
My dogs name is chocobo, he is a chihuahua. I am training him to become a very good sheep herder.
He is not doing the best job right now, but he is learning.
I will play the next update for Shephard's run. Excited for my dog to learn new tricks and herd some sheep. This is impressive for your first solo dev game. I think you have some great fundamentals, it will be even more amazing!
Hahaha thank you so much for trying it and the compliments !!!! Definitely need the ability to name your pup that’s a great idea thank you!
this is one of my doggies, the one in the game is based on him, his name is Leo
Leo is adorable! This was exactly what I was picturing looking at the dog you made for the game.
Striking resemblance!
so nice, thank you!!! He’s a cutie :)
Pretty ambitious take on the theme and feels a little unfinished. However i gotta give you credit for making pretty complex systems for your first solo game. I recommend you to try and expand the game after the jam. The game also fits the theme and i must say, a very original take!
Good job!
thank you so much for trying it!!! I’m so glad you find it original and recommended I finish it :)
I’ll definitely give yours a go tomorrow!
Actually rather complex systems involved in this. Hope to see more in the future.
thank you so much for trying it out!! Excited to try yours tomorrow
