The jam is now over. I can update the game now. Only took a month.

Developer

GG for the jam.

Developer

1 and a half days left until I can publish a mobile version of this game.

Developer

I got bored, so here is one more thing about the game.

This isn't Joe's first appearance in a game, as he was an unlockable character in "Lost in Neopolis"

This isn't an ad for the game, but I thought there was no harm in telling the 2 people that view this comment about Joe's origin. If you want to play LiN, then you can find it yourself, it can't be that hard to find.

Developer

Also, I changed the cover to show Algorithm Joe instead of Remote Joe, as I felt that people couldn't tell that the old cover was of R. Joe's eyes, so I made it more obvious with A. Joe.

Developer

I just wanted to say that the movement for the characters wasn't that hard to make. It was really just adding a behavior to the characters, and editing parameters. I'm saying this because..., I dunno.

Anyways, I'm porting the game to mobile, so look out for that!

This was a nice game! I liked seeing the differences between each mode, and I enjoyed the sort of 2.5D perspective of the art style. The mechanics also built upon themselves nicely for each character. Good job!

Nice work on this! I liked the light feel of the movements and the different modes gave an interesting and different way to play the game. Good job!

Another development secret is here.

In the bottom right corner of the level (which can be seen in the fifth screen shot), there are a bunch of scrapped robot laying in a corner. Most of those robot's where based of concept art for Algorithm Joe (by this point in development, I was gonna use normal Joe is mode 1, but then decided, that Remote Joe would fit better, which led me to think of concepts for another robot, one based on following an algorithm), except for the blue one with purple eyes, that used to be Remote Joe's sprite.

Cool game! I like the way the 3d tiles look, and the green ladder things were a cool way to add verticality to the environment. I'm not sure if this was intended, but I discovered that I could climb them super fast by holding jump. I'm not complaining though.

I would appreciate it if you checked out my submission as well!

Ok, I think it's time to reveal another secret about the game, this time dev stuff.

The game originally had a very different premise, with Joe using power-ups and gadgets to traverse through multiple level based on each power-up. This idea actually came before the Jam. However, when the Jam started, I took the opportunity to restart development of the game. Stuff like Joe's sprite, and the Ground Tiles (which have a different color) are the only things left over from the previous project.

That's interesting! I do think the way the powerups are now is more unique, so nice job.

I like your parallax, I felt the depth there

Developer

Ok, I think its a good idea to reveal some information about the development of the game along with some secrets and lore of the game.

The first thing is a secret mode. By holding shift and pressing the title logo on the title screen takes you to the level in mode 0. In mode 0, you play as Joe (not one of the robot versions in the other modes, the real one). He doesn't have the ability to dash or wall jump, but he has a triple jump to make up for it. Beating the level with Joe will take you back to the title screen.

I guess I'll reveal more stuff later in other posts.

I thought the 2D/3D levels were cool, and mixed really well with the retro music. The controls were easy to figure out, and the climbing felt totally natural. Great job!

I enjoyed your game, fun to play,  cute cube character and climbing action.  Nice job!

Great concept! I like randomly happening upon the corpses of my fallen siblings 😬

GJ!

I enjoyed exploring the levels, the music was nice and getting the coin collect animation was very satisfying :)

My favourite mode was mode 3 (I just like dashing in games very much)

You have my rating :)

I liked the climbing mechanism, I think I would have liked some on screen instructions on how to move/jump/climb as the climbing took me a moment.

Good game, I like the speedrunning aspect of it!

Developer( 1)

Yeah, originally there was supposed to be only two timers (for mode 3, and mode 3 while collecting all tokens), but I added a timer and leaderboard for mode 2 after.

Submitted( 1)

The three different modes are good mechanics! Good job!

Developer( 1)

Thanks!
