Write down what effects you used.
We wrote down a full-screen shader in Unity to make sure we only had 2 colors on the screen at a time. We switch palettes to show the player he shifted dimensions.

Thank you once again to everyone who played our game! We’re very proud of what we delivered, all your feedback is really appreciated and will help us make our future games even better 💪🏻🥰

(still a bit confused about our “Is the graphics 1-bit?” rating, as we didn’t use any alpha or aliasing so we only had two colors on screen at any point in time, even during the loader 🤷🏼‍♂️)

The style of this game is very cool. I really liked it. Everything seems to run well. The attacks work and feel effective. There's plenty to explore and learn about the world. I think the dimensions are a great idea, and are expressed well with the static objects.

If anything, the mouse sensitivity is kind of low. A slider would be appreciated. Also "f" to interact feels a bit unnatural to me, so control remapping would also be appreciated.

Great job!

Developer( 1)

What key would’ve been better to interact in your case? If I’m not mistaken, we also mapped Enter, but personally also felt it was kinda awkward.

We also had a lot of discussions regarding game controller mapping 😂

Submitted( 1)

I know for me personally, "Interact" is "E", due to playing many games with it set to that. It also feels more natural for me to reach up to press it, rather than reaching to the right (with hand on WASD) (QWERTY). I know this comes down to personal preference, so "F" isn't the worst key it could be if you end up not implementing key remapping. I just kept instinctually pressing "E" and having to remind myself that it was the wrong button!

Duly noted! I actually mapped E to interact at one point during development, until I remembered it was tied to shifting dimensions 😅

It might have been OK to have one key to cycle through the dimensions and use E to interact, I’ll keep it in mind for the next game / as a playtest goal.

Thanks again for your feedback!

This is incredible for a game jam. I had a lot of fun playing through this! Not much else to say about it but great job!

Really interesting game! I like the different dimensions and the art. Good job!

My brain cannot compute the fact that a game at this level of polish was made in ONE WEEK. SEVEN DAYS. I can't express just how amazing this experience was, the way the lore was written and drip-fed was so engaging the information was paced perfectly throughout the game and being able to walk around while still listening to audio recorders, notes, etc is perfect!

With that being said, for whatever reason the keyboard controls just refused to work on the web version for this game? I had to download the game to play it and it worked perfectly there, but on the webgl build the game refused to recognize my keyboard despite recognizing my mouse just fine

Developer( 2)

That’s strange, I don’t think we had other reports of the keyboard not working 🤔 What browser are you using?

A big thank you for all your compliments! 🥰 It was our first game jam that spanned a whole week, and it was quite an experience 😅 I’m not sure I’ve reclaimed the lost sleep yet.

Submitted( 1)

Ok this is really weird, but the web version works perfectly fine on microsoft edge, but on chrome it isn't detecting my keyboard inputs. I don't think it's an problem on your end my Chrome is probably just being weird.

Super cool. The voiced dialogue and art is great!

Submitted( 2)

Loved the visuals on it, really well done. The mechanic of changing dimensions is so good. You did a great work!

Submitted( 1)

Amazing Game! One of the few games with voiced dialogue that I have played. The visuals are great and remind of Void Bastards.

Submitted( 2)

This visuals are AWESOME! I love it. Fighting, however, needs a bit of polish imo, same as the animations. The music is great and the sfx are very well done (extra for voice acting!). One of the best I've played so far.

Submitted( 2)

Awesome graphics and amazing voice acting, especially since it's AI generated. I wish the animation had a bit more punch to it, but overall a great entry.

It's a great game and in just one week, unbelievable!! Great atmosphere, cool graphics, how did you make it? Very interesting) I wanted to implement the same color changing mechanics associated with opponents)

Developer( 1)

Apologies for not replying sooner!

Regarding the graphics, we have two parts:

  • first, each 3D model has two textures (dark / light), which were drawn by Tayteus. Dark textures have less details, and light textures got all the details. I then wrote a shader to lerp between the two textures depending on the light (ambiant light or the player’s flashlight). This is a standard URP unlit shader.
  • second, I wrote a fullscreen shader that determines the color of each pixel based on its luminance value vs a threshold. Under this threshold, I output the *dark *color value, and over this threshold, I output the *light *color value. I created 4 different materials with this shader, one for each dimension. I then added a renderer pass to our URP settings, created a class that inherits from FullScreenPassRendererFeature to identify it easily in the rendererData, and when a change is triggered, I just assign the new material to the passMaterial property.

Thank you, very interesting

In just one week, a true masterpiece was created, what an incredible game! The aesthetics are stunning, the sounds are great, the voice of the AI fits perfectly with the entire game, and the atmosphere is fantastic! I'm not sure if it's my mouse or if the sensitivity was a bit low, so that made it a bit challenging, not to the point of hindering, but I would prefer it to be a bit faster. I also found the melee combat a bit slow. But as I said, it's a great game, congratulations!

Developer( 1)

It’s our 1st FPS and we had some issues with the mouse sensitivity (some computers had some kind of snapping where the camera quickly jumped back into the center of the screen when the mouse input was too high), we’ve implemented what we thought might be a fix by capping these values, but it seems to have throttled other mice 😔

Nevertheless, thanks for your kind words! 😌

Submitted( 2)

very well done, amazingly polished gameplay and storyline! The environment and the puzzle elements are great aswell. The only thing I would criticize is the melee figthing ability, as it does not react properly sometimes or at least feel this way :)

This game is awesome

Incredible game, specially for a 7 day jam game, it looks and feels extremelly polished. Both the story and the interesting, and the aesthethics are wonderful. Lots of wonderful little details, like each dimension having their own color palette and the AI voice overs.
Definitely would like to see more of it!! Amazing Job!!

This is really well done for a game jam game. The execution of the 1-bit design was done in style, and I think the puzzles were just complex enough to still be pretty easily solvable. I think the ring one was my favourite; the way you gave the hint to the solution was really clever in my opinion. My only complaints are relatively petty things; I wish there was a little more to the alien fighting rather than just being a minor chore on my way over to the next puzzle destination, and I also noticed the melee attack hitbox was pretty finicky (sometimes I had to move pretty far away from an alien to get the attack to land). Other than that though, this is a really cool experience which I'd be interested to see more of!

Developer( 1)

Thank you so much for playing and for such a good critical review!

I do agree with you on the alien part, unfortunately we did not have the time to do something better without ruining the experience...but that's definitely the way to go!!

We're glad you liked the game, thank you again!

loved it. the voice recordings and AI dialog were a great touch. loved the phase shifting mechanic!

Woaw ! Just woaw ! Very impressed by your job in one week !! Your game is beautiful, I love the art ! The ambiance, the story, the voice, all the game is amazing !!

I just didn't really understand the relationship with the light and dark theme (afterwards I'm not very good at English either) haha but whatever it's a awesome game!

Developer( 2)

Thank you very much for playing, we are glad you liked it !!

Well there is first the fact that the whole station is in the shadows, and you are using a light to proceed (dark station / light of the lamp). And if you want to go more metaphorically, it's the darkness of the whole horror/ambiance against the light and hope of your own character!

Submitted( 3)

This game is great! I really like the art style alot! The concept is very unique and fun to play around with, Good Job!
