Very atmospheric game! I like the gun mechanic a lot :) I think it would be a nice addition if the play characters changes direction (the sprite) if you move with keyboard and not just according to the mouse position and if the music would loop. Also the character sprites look very great and the music fits very well, good job!
Thanks! :) I really was torn on the player changing direction with movement, like if you move to the left and aim to the right, which direction does the character face? I guess maybe whichever input method you used last, preferring the mouse? Idk
Definitely meant to put the music on loop and i’m sad I forgot to :(
I liked the idea and the mechanics a lot, it was fun! The only bad things I could say about the game are some screen freezes and that I felt lost at the start, haha. But overall, very good job!
Liked the large ambitious area and really loved the mechanics with the jumping, floating, and boosting with water. It's a really good game overall and the visuals look awseome.
Overall really good game! loved the art and specially the physics aspect. Just floating around with the gun was satisfying enough that I'd call this fun for sure! I did get stuck quite a few times on the starting part after a reset because the box you have to shoot around to get to on one of the buttons got stuck on me multiple times. Other than that, great entry!
I played this one and I think I forgot to post the comment and it got lost
I like the "physics" of the cable makes you feel like you are diving on very dangerous alien waters.
the soundtrack is really good kinda gives me a dangerous water mistery 10% old west kinda vibe
the only thing I need to say is that playing AWSD for someone that uses left handed mouse is kinda ... playable but not too comfortable ... making JIKL = AWSD would already make it perfect
Thanks! Accessibility is really important to me and I can definitely understand not liking the default controls, which is why I made a point to include the option to rebind them. Maybe I should’ve brought more attention to that, sorry!
At first I thought the game was too forgiving with how you can swim quickly with the help of your gun and not care for oxygen level. It took some time to figure that you have to press a lever with a block, but the real game only starts there. Screen freezes sometimes, but there is a lot for a 10 days game jam!
Yeah I noticed some performance issues especially like loading in particles for the first time on my laptop, I wonder if it’s real gpu intensive or something. Since the basic movement felt so fun I wanted to give people a chance to just play around with it at first - I definitely think I made the start puzzles too obscure though!
Cool and polished game! The movement and mechanics felt good(except when the blocks got kind of stuck) and the characters and enemies look cool too. Sadly not much content and dying is not really a problem(Wich usually is not that good for a game as it take the challenge and tension away, but i love it for a game jam since i don't have to repeat everything again every time). Nice Work!
Thanks! Agreed the blocks can be frustrating, I think I have a solution for that at least. I’ve learned to try to tune game jam games to be fun and easy, as a standalone work I’d definitely make dying more punishing. I also always overscope on polish and art and then don’t have much time for the actual game at the end, so I also figure it’s better to err on the side of too easy without time to properly playtest the levels (which a platformer maybe more than any other genre really benefits from). Appreciate you checking it out :)
There is an error in the HTML. To fix it, you may activate:
SharedArrayBuffer
support in the HTML options on the itch.io game page. You can play my game if you want here: https://itch.io/jam/-pixel-game-jam-2024/rate/2718966Dang, are you on iOS or macOS? Apparently Godot 4 webgl doesn’t work with them :(
No. I'm on Windows. I used godot 4 for my HTML to.
Huh, I wonder why then? I have SharedArrayBuffer enabled on itch, otherwise it wouldn’t work for anyone. I suspect I don’t know enough to actually troubleshoot but I’d be curious what your browsers devtools console says when it tries to load it - no worries if you don’t have time though!
I love how zipping around feels! Movement overall is great. Though the little moveable blocks getting stuck in corners is a bit annoying.
thanks! I really tried to find a balance of floatiness and speed for the movement that I’m pretty happy with, maybe a fast fall feature would’ve been nice. Sorry about the blocks in the corners, I wanted to come up with a more clever fix but instead just made it so (except for one room…) it should be impossible for the ones that matter to be stuck somewhere
I really liked the idea of managing oxygen for weapon ammo, that was really creative!
Good stuff! I love the art and zooping around mechanic was very satisfying.
Really fun and intuitive puzzle platformer!
Embodied being underwater really well and absolutely loved the weapon pushback mechanic as part of the puzzle design!
Well done!
Hey! This game is really fun.
It was a little frustrating at first trying to figure out the controls and it took trial and error for me to figure out how to control the oxygen blaster. I alsocouldn't figure out how to kill the monsters and died to them. When I hit R to restart, I got soft locked into a wall: (
But overall, this is a very fun concept, with more time and polish, this could be great!
thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I was hoping the sort of minimal tutorial and then wide open space to play around freely would give people time to get a hang of the controls and feel comfy before any actual pressure came on, so I’m sorry it was frustrating! Do you remember what exactly frustrated you about it? Maybe I can tutorialize it better
Enemies take three hits to kill, but unfortunately the r restart soft lock was a glitch I thought I had fixed but snuck its way back in in the scramble to get my final version uploaded :(
Great work! I really had a good time playing the game, even without really understanding what to do, the movements are very pleasant and the atmosphere is good!
Thanks! I was hoping the sort of environmental hints would point people towards what to do while having fun moving around, but might’ve made the first real challenging switch too hard.
At the start there’s the mini tutorial, then the god rays of light should point towards two closed doors. There are two switches in the environment you have to toggle with those barrel things you can push around, one above and one to the bottom left. After that, you can go through the doors, and see a few rooms with enemies and stuff
A game who took a really unexpected turn! Was good until i got stuck respawning in the ground of the room with 1 shark and spikes at the top, despite that it was surprisingly fun
Thank you! Yeah I meant to fix the falling through floor bug but it got lost in the mix 😢 sorry about that! You basically saw everything that actually made it into the game though
