Kadam virus

Il virus Kadam (Kadam virus, KAD, ceppo MP6640) è un arbovirus trasmesso da zecche della famiglia Flaviviridae, genere Flavivirus, appartiene al IV gruppo dei virus a (( ) ssRNA).[1]
Il virus fu isolato per la prima volta dall'Istituto di ricerca sui virus dell'Uganda a Entebbe, in Uganda, dopo aver prelevato campioni da bovini a Karamoja.[2] I virus venivano di solito trovati solo da zecche vettori di Rhipicephalus e Amblyomma che infettavano bovini e umani in Kenya e Uganda; successivamente è stato scoperto in Arabia Saudita in un cammello morto infestato da zecche del genere Hyalomma nel Wadi Thamamah, vicino a Riyadh.[3]
