Learning the local language is vital to help refugee and first-generation migrant children settle into their new homes. But making that leap can be tough: Data from Italy show migrant children’s Italian language skills can be about two years behind those of local children. Italy is one of several countries where @UNICEF has been testing the Akelius language learning app. The results are providing valuable insights into how schools and teachers can be supported to make best use of digital learning technologies. https://lnkd.in/dQFDmTdZ #UNICEFInnocenti #UNICEF_ECA #sdg4 #Akelius

#Webinar Globally, efforts seeking to prevent or respond to intimate partner violence (IPV) and violence against children (VAC) are still frequently separate, even with growing evidence of intersections across these forms of violence. Together with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) we conducted a systematic review to explore interventions that simultaneously prevented or responded to IPV and VAC by parents or caregivers. Join us this Wednesday for a discussion on the findings from this study, featured in The Lancet, the implications of these results, and to explore how together, these insights can help us create better outcomes for both children and women. 💡 Our first research report under the #LearningisForEveryone programme is out now! UNICEF and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Cambodia collaborated to examine Cambodia's education system through a disability-inclusive lens. Our new report details findings and recommendations around 4 key themes: 1️⃣ Create enabling environment for inclusive education, through strong data collection systems and alignment with the #HumanRights model of #disability, 2️⃣ Dismantle supply-side barriers to inclusive education, by providing teachers with continuous training on inclusive education practices, 3️⃣ Monitor the quality of learning by standardising learning assessments and protocols to minimise students' risk of dropping out of school; 4️⃣ Strengthen the demand for inclusive education by combatting harmful stereotypes about disability through localised and contextualised interventions. We need to build a disability-inclusive world, because #LearningIsForEveryone!
