Benevolence can change the world

Europe between the Apennines and the Mediterranean, Storytelling and the human landscape. A pioneering European #research applied to the case of Portico di Romagna (Italy) to discover the emotions that the relationships between empathetic narration and matter arouse in citizens, verifying how art can improve people's "well-being". The path highlights the co-planning, co-creation, co-care of the places we identify as home and draws on new epistemologies of the public sphere of the new citizenship. A few words, some #stories, like that of the Portico Gecko, and many facts invite us to reflect on the future vision of the European Union. This marks the completion of a key step in the collective journey “Where To?” the European project of Lignin Stories & Centro Italiano Storytelling that Flavio Milandri talks about, on page 14, of SR (The Sense of the Republic) of May with "Europe in the middle ground between the #Apennines and the #Mediterranean".

We need women at all levels, including the top, to change the dynamic, reshape the conversation, to make sure women’s voices are heard and heeded, not overlooked and ignored. The Games offer an important opportunity to stimulate a cultural transformation through sport and to promote commitment towards a more inclusive society for all people. 🎉 So thrilled to announce that our research team has been awarded a three-year research grant from Abuse-Free Sport Sans Abus 🎉. In collaboration with The Lamarsh Centre for Child & Youth Research at York University and The Health and Wellness Equity Research Group @ Carleton University, our team will focus on Trauma-and Violence-Informed Sport For Development (TVISFD) to better support youth through a range of diverse programs and resources. Our aims are to: 👉 Explore the benefits and challenges of trauma-and violence-informed sport for development programs across Canada for gender-based violence prevention and survivor support. 👉 Develop a comprehensive toolkit for sport for development practitioners, volunteers, coaches and community members. 👉 Implement training resources and propose crucial policy changes through participatory digital action research that is informed - and driven by - youth themselves. This three-year project will bring together youth, coaches, and community partners across Canada to foster safe and supportive environments in sport for development programming. Our goal is to expand understandings of sexual and gender-based violence, develop effective interventions, and mobilize a nationwide network of support. We are particularly focused on programming that serves self-identified girls and gender diverse youth. Together, we aim to co-develop resources, tools and key learnings on safe sport practices promoted in/through SFD programs to be applied to the broader youth sport sector in Canada. Our #InsideTrack research report delved into the evolving geographical patterns shaping the world of motorsport, highlighting the remarkable surge in female participation. Let's break down the numbers ⬇️ 🌎 Over the past two decades, Europe has taken the lead in overall female motorsport participation, with 43% of new participants. Meanwhile, the United States holds the top spot among countries, contributing 18% to the global picture. South and Central America are also emerging as key players. 🔥 When we examine data per capita, hotspots such as Sweden, New Zealand, Finland, Australia, and Denmark emerge, closely mirroring male participation trends. 📈 Recent years show a shift in the geographic landscape. While Europe and the US continue to dominate, East Asia and Oceania are also beginning to grow numbers in female participation. This data highlights both progress and challenges in the motorsport industry, providing key questions that the sport should reflect on: ❶ What barriers are preventing more women from joining the race? ❷ How can we encourage and support greater female participation? Honoured to have delivered a learning session for partners in the Trampolin project, covering the rationale for #socialoutcomes #contracting & #impactinvestment, exploring the risks and benefits to different stakeholders including #Governments, #socialinvestors, and service delivery organizations. Also a quick recap on where these #innovations originated from and where they may be heading, looking at global trends. The potential of these approaches for #sport4development are explored in terms of the potential for strengthening the #evidence base for the contribution of #grassroots #sport towards a wide range of social outcomes and #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #SDGs, for socializing mission-driven entities into #outcomes ways of thinking of doing, for #capacitybuilding in the #socialsector, for cross-sector #partnership and #innovation, and for helping Governments spend more effectively and with greater #valueformoney in order to improve lives of citizens. Really encouraging to see partners in #Santiago #Chile use the opportunity of #Santiago2023 to deliver #socialimpact through grassroots sport. Even more encouraging to see a genuine partnership between international players like UNESCO, International Olympic Committee – IOC; regional players like CAF -banco de desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe-, Americas Paralympic Committee; national and local partners like Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación, Servicio Nacional de la Discapacidad (SENADIS), Ministerio del Deporte, Municipalidad de Santiago, Chile; working together to improve #genderinclusion and #disabilityinclusion through sport. #NewResearch The Relative Age Effect across an International Soccer Programme in Male and Female Players Aged 12 Years Old to Seniors John Radnor, Daniel Nisbet, Jose Teixeira, Toni Modric, Eduard Bezuglov, Halil ibrahim Ceylan, Ronan Kavanagh, Piotr Zmijewski, Rafael Oliveira 💻The purpose of the study was to examine the prevalence of the Relative Age Effect (RAE) across an international soccer programme in male and female players aged 12 years old to seniors. All participants were divided into four quartiles: January to March (BQ1), April to June (BQ2), July to September (BQ3), and October to December (BQ4). 💡In conclusion, this study unveils significant disparities in quartile distributions among male and female squads. Moreover, the data emphasize the potential impact of heightened physical demands in certain positions on the RAE.
