A major growth milestone in Italy has been achieved today ✅ Sonnedix will be acquiring ten plants totalling 250 MW across Southern Italy from Blunova SpA, the sub holding of Carlo Maresca Group. Four of these are now closed (with an 80 MW acquisition announced today). Importantly: ☀️ Adding these assets to our portfolio increases our operating capacity in Italy to nearly 800 MW, putting us on track to double operating capacity. With the added capacity comes further optimisation opportunities and efficiencies, and the team is ready to apply our deep knowledge and expertise operating in Italy to provide even more clean, affordable, and reliable energy to our Italian consumers. ☀️ The acquisition also extends our timelines of regulated plants in Italy, as all ten are contracted under Italy’s Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) FER 1 auction round. Having a highly contracted portfolio is key to tackling some of the recent market dynamics we’ve been seeing across Europe, including the negative pricing trend, with long term pricing providing stability and clear investment signals. These partnerships are crucial to achieving our energy transition goals, and the team in Italy, led by Michelangelo Rizzuti, will be continuing their hard work alongside Carlo Maresca as the remaining six plants are completed in the first half of 2025. We are excited to be the Gold Sponsor at Ital-IA, the Fourth National CINI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, which is happening live today at the Stazione Marittima Conference Center (Molo Angioino) in #Naples. This two-day event, hosted by the University of Naples Federico II, is a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration among public institutions, the Italian industry, and the scientific research community. Ital-IA aims to build a national network to harness the development potential of AI technologies.
