Chi siamo

We’ve been counting wrong. Time can be both painful and healing, fleeting and enduring, yearned for and wished away. Time is the core of the human experience, it’s subjective, shared and yet completely personal to every single person on this planet; no two people will ever perceive time in the same way. We all want it to last as long as possible… But are we counting wrong? When we speak about WeRoad, we often say it was founded to let people live life-changing adventures across the world. To let people escape their comfort zones and test their limits. To let you discover what you’re capable of. While this is absolutely true, WeRoad was also founded to count differently, to measure life by experiences, to make it matter. We’re not saying every day has to be positive, we’re saying it’s the memorable moments that define you as a person; the good and the bad. We’re saying you need to count the moments when your lungs burn and your legs don’t want to move, when you let go of control and let the world take you by the hand, when you belly laugh until you cry, and you cry until your tears run out. Count the moments when you feel fear in your stomach as you try something new, when excitement pulses through your veins as you board a plane, when you open your heart to a complete stranger. Count the moments when your heart breaks, when you make mistakes, when you learn something new about yourself and when you go beyond everything you thought you were ever capable of. Because lost time is irreplaceable. “Not having time” doesn’t exist. The best of times turn into memories, and the memories turn into a reminder of why we need to count differently. Why we need to make it matter.

IT’S BASE CAMP SEASON No, we’re not talking about Everest (although mentally it deffo feels like we’ve scaled 8000 metres these past months), we’re talking about WeRoad base camp that we’ve set up in Manchester, Rome and Barcelona. Unlike the popular trek in Nepal, our Base Camp is a lot calmer (and warmer). You can think of it as a safe space to chill, play games, talk about travel and take a strategic nap during the hot summer months at music festivals. So where can you find us? In Italy, we returned to MONK Roma in Rome for the second year running, where our Base Camp will run from May to September. In Manchester we held our Basecamp at #Kampus, who like WeRoad, are all about community, people and social spaces. Meanwhile in Spain, Base Camp will return to Barcelona in August for the #BrunchElectronikFestival. Oh, and if you’re a tourist visiting the city, consider bringing a waterproof jacket… ;)

WHAT DID THE EUROS TEACH US ABOUT INSTANT MARKETING? A lot. Because nobody in the marketing team actually follows the football, so jumping on the footie bandwagon required a wider team effort. In fact, the writer of this LinkedIn post may or may not have had to google how long a football game lasts. Did we let that stop us from creating marketing stunts around the European Championships? Of course not, we just had to turn to our fellow footie aficionados in the team, including CEO Andrea D'Amico. We ran marketing stunts in the UK and Germany, inviting Jack Grealish and James Maddison to come on holiday with us after not being selected for the England team, and Toni Kroos to join us after the Euros to kick-start his retirement from football. In Spain and France we published memes on social media when France's top player Kylian Mbappé was spotted training in a mask after his nose injury, and the Spanish team's quick game of rock, paper, scissors went viral. What about Italy? Apparently we're not allowed to talk about that.

WHEN WE LAUNCHED WEROAD WE NEVER IMAGINED WE WOULD TURN PEOPLE INTO ENTREPRENEURS Take sara mignogna ’s example: In 2022 she went from freelance video maker to full-time travel designer. After just 18 months, Sara now manages 17 itineraries and 100s of coordinators who coordinate and experience the trips written by her. She has helped over 1000 WeRoaders travel across the globe (trigger warning if you're reading this at your desk) to exotic places like Mauritius, Alaska, Nepal, Oman and Indonesia.

WE ORGANISED 5 EVENTS ACROSS 5 COUNTRIES WITH OVER 1000 PEOPLE Even writing that is making us tired. We’re talking about Road to Summer, a crucial event in the WeRoad calendar where we invited our Travel Coordinators to spend the weekend with us and prepare for our busiest season of the year. It’s also a chance to reflect, learn and train to be equipped for the high season, and an excuse to all come together and live and breathe the community we have spent years building. Our 1000 coordinators and sponsors were present across 5 cities: Rome, Murcia, Manchester, Lyon and Innsbruck, and our Italian and Spanish events even had sponsors including: Hawaiian Tropic, Skipper Zuegg, Serenis, Edulia, dal Sapere Treccani, Syra Coffee, Tea Shop, Paccari Chocolate and Blue Banana Brand. Manchester’s Road to Summer occurred while we had our (subtle) maxi billboard in the city centre, which created quite a scene with crowds of coordinators taking over the city; we quite literally painted the town our WeRoad shade of red.

THE OLYMPICS ARE COMING… SO GET OUT OF PARIS But before you do, check out our OOH campaign, guerrilla marketing and events. 15 million people are expected to roam France’s capital during the Olympics, which means Millennials in Paris are all thinking the same thing: get out of Paris. We decided to help them by handing out €5000 worth of flight tickets in co-working spaces and outside the metro. We also adorned the walls of the Paris metro with 450 billboards starring our beloved WeRoaders (to inspire Parisians to take that holiday), and we will partner up with Timeleft for a big event to do what we do best; build a community. Is that all? No, of course not, stay tuned because the best is yet to come.

Hey Jack and James, We heard your trip to Germany fell through, so we’re inviting you to see the world with us instead. Two party animals like you deserve a squad that’ll never leave you out. Forget about Europe, there’s a whole world for you to discover (Ibiza can wait).
