Let's meet in Brussels 🐛 We're excited to be participating in the IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed) Annual Conference: Empowering Europe - Food Security, Bioeconomy & Insects. Don't miss the opportunity to meet and chat with our R&D Manager, Giovanni Turchetti #insect #food #innovation
🐛 Another important achievement o the increasingly central production of insect proteins for animal feed. 🐕🦺 🌍 Which not only allows Europe to increase its domestic production of protein-rich food, but also does so in a circular way. ♻️
Insect farming can help Europe alleviate its #protein deficit 🎯 The IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed) Secretariat has been working closely with the European Commission and the European Parliament on the Protein Strategy Report, and this week marks an important milestone for the insect-production sector. On 3 October, the #AGRI Committee in the European Parliament voted positively on the Report on the European Protein Strategy. Some 716 amendments to the draft report had been submitted ahead of the vote. The Protein Strategy Report concerns one of the major issues with protein in Europe: how much of it we produce here, and how much of it is imported. Insect-derived proteins present a #sustainable, #circular solution to this. The IPIFF Secretariat was involved in discussions with the Rapporteur of the Report, Ms. Emma Wiesner, in April this year. Upon presenting our proposed amendments to the Report and concerns regarding the future of protein production in Europe, we are happy to see these amendments in reference to insect protein sources adopted in the final version. Now the ball is back in the Commission's court, and we, at IPIFF, will continue working with the European Commission toward the final text of the EC Report.
