Enhancing Acoustic Comfort in EVs with Coherence-Based Beamforming. As electric vehicles gain prominence in the global market, reducing wind noise has become a key focus for investment. Improving vehicle acoustic comfort requires now more than ever to identify all the aeroacoustic noise sources around the vehicle, many of which were previously masked by engine noise. Beamforming techniques, which use microphone arrays to localize noise sources on a virtual plane near the object, are widely used. However, not all detected sources infiltrate the vehicle cabin and affect acoustic comfort. In response, the Pininfarina Wind Tunnel has developed an efficient Coherence-Based Beamforming algorithm. This algorithm correlates the various sound sources detected by Conventional Beamforming technique to the noise measured inside the vehicle cabin. Unlike conventional methods, it effectively removes uncorrelated aerodynamic noise contributions, isolating the major noise sources responsible for passenger discomfort. Preserving automotive heritage.   Pininfarina will be presenting its new programme to elevate classic cars at Auto Moto d’Epoca 2024: Pininfarina Classiche. An initiative aimed at enthusiasts and collectors of the brand, which underlines the company's commitment to the preservation and enhancement of its rich automotive and industrial heritage. We are delighted and moved to announce that Paolo Pininfarina has been named the 2024 Laureate of The American Prize for Design. America’s highest design award to be presented posthumously at ‘The City and The World’ Athens Symposium in September.   The award has been assigned by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies in conjunction with @Good Design® 2024. Paolo Pininfarina’s nomination for the prize was approved by The Chicago Athenaeum’s International Advisory Committee a month before his untimely death this April 2024 at the age of 65.   "Beautiful, stunning, provocative, and instant landmark classics define the hallmark of #Pininfarina, a signature of any object designed under the supervision of Paolo Pininfarina," said Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, President/CEO of The Chicago Athenaeum. "Pininfarina is renowned for its extraordinary ability to create timeless beauty. Paolo was an expert in the design fields of furniture, architectural, nautical and aeronautical design and industrial product design. His work seamlessly integrated Pininfarina’s automotive heritage with modern design, enhancing everyday lives. In the world of design and beyond, he definitely had a larger-than-life, Hollywood Super Star persona.”

The SAIMA turnstiles designed by #Pininfarina are starting to be installed in the Milan metro stations, with more to be installed soon. The structure of the next-generation gates produced by Saima, equipped with two sliding doors, stands at a height of 2.30 meters, preventing attempts to bypass them. The chrome and glass barrier, illuminated by green and red lights, is also equipped with sensors capable of detecting the simultaneous passage of two or more individuals. This integration of cutting-edge technology and sleek design marks a significant step forward in enhancing security and efficiency within the public transportation system.

An icon to see and experience.   The Pininfarina-designed Photo Booth ICONA arrives for its national premiere at Porta di Roma. Visitors to this shopping center will be the first to have the unique opportunity to discover the new, contemporary, and inclusive design of the Photo Booth. Dedem S.p.A. has chosen #Pininfarina to give the Photo Booth a new look in celebration of its sixtieth anniversary. Today, you can admire its contemporary and timeless lines in person, which preserve the tradition of an already iconic object while ushering it into the future.
