Our Journey into the FAs of an Organising Commetee Continues! Today we talk about CTY. CITY OPERATIONS is responsible for building a strong liaison between External Delivery Partners and Milano Cortina 2026 for City Operations projects – pre-Games and at Games Times – and is in charge of planning, monitoring and coordinating activities and services with local entities. CTY also supports the host cities in setting up a City Command Centre and liaising with other Operational Centres created by Milano Cortina 2026 (Main Operations Centre). Finally, they facilitate the integration of External Delivery Partners into operational readiness.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation was established on December 9, 2019. In compliance with the provisions contained in the Olympic Charter, in the Code of Ethics of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and in the Agreement signed in Lausanne on 24 June 2019 (Host City Contract), the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation will carry out all the organizational, promotional and communication activities for the sporting and cultural events related to the staging of the XXV Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2026. The bodies of the Foundation include the Board of Directors, the Management Committee, and the Board of Statutory Auditors. Giovanni Malagò is the President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation as well as the President of the Board of Directors. The CEO of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation is Andrea Varnier. The IOC, the Italian National Olympic Committee, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the two cities, Milano and Cortina, are all partners in this major national-level project, that has also the support of the Italian Government, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen. We have all joined forces to create a memorable and sustainable edition of the Games that will create a legacy for the country and inspire future generations.

The Operational Readiness, i.e. Operational Readiness, Test Events and C3/MOC function deals with: - Development of processes and activities aimed at facilitating the organisational transaction from the planning phase to the operational phase, through "test events" and specific "readiness" preparation programmes, encouraging the practice and testing of structures, systems, services, operations and management methods, critical for the Game time period; - Development of the concept and operational plan for the Foundation's Main Operations Centre (MOC), which will take over the role of the Games headquarters for information sharing and criticality management. #MilanoCortina2026 #Olympics #Olimpiadi #Paralympics #Paralimpiadi

What does it mean to work in an Organising Committee? Which are the functional areas (FAs) involved? Let's start with the VDO area. The VDO area is responsible for the planning and implementation of all infrastructure directly related to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The VDO functional area will, in consultation with the FAs and stakeholders of Milano Cortina 2026, directly provide the temporary infrastructure and services to facilitate the successful operation of venues during the Games.
