Guglielmo Maisto and Aurelio Massimiano will be speaking today at the MAP Day 2024 organized by the Tax Policy Center of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, in cooperation with SwissHoldings, International Chamber of Commerce and Tax Executives Institute. The event will focus on the most significant practical developments and challenges concerning dispute prevention and the operation of the mutual agreement procedure (“MAP”) around the globe. The focus will also be on the impact of administrative and judicial approaches across regions on dispute resolution as well as on the challenges raised by the implementation of the Global Minimum Tax. They will illustrate in detail the wider theme of MAP, and it scope, analyzed in the broader international law environment and on the steps to access such procedure (audit settlements among the various specifications) and the topic of Pillar Two, dispute prevention and resolution. The International Bar Association Annual Conference has taken place in Mexico City this year and we are thrilled to have joined such an international gathering of lawyers from around the world. A great number of conferences has animated the week delving into key contemporary topics the legal profession and professionals are called to confront with. Taxation among the many has represented a key driver of the discussion and a lot could be learnt from experts on the practical considerations on the implementation of pillar two, considerations of permanent establishment (PE) issues, exit taxes, flips and other transformative events, and the challenges brought forth by tax-AI-tion and the digital divide, to mention but a few.
