I had a seriously awesome time hanging with the whole Tyndale Company, Inc. crew at KEMA Labs. Frank Cielo is, and has always been a great host. The KEMA Labs team is always safe and professional. We spent the day with people who genuinely care about their workers out there. We had a great lineup of speakers including our own Scott Margolin, William Watson from Miller Electric Company, Corey Hannahs and Dean Austin, senior content specialist from NFPA. This year we wowed the crowd with AC and DC arcs. It was pretty intense. Below is a 30-ish calorie DC arc in slow motion.

At KEMA Labs, we’re driving the future of energy technology and supporting the global energy transition. From modernizing energy systems to electrifying the logistics sector and developing advanced testing for electric vehicles, our cutting-edge solutions are making a real impact. One of our latest milestones: the upgrade of the KEMA Powertest high-voltage lab in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, now capable of generating up to 600,000 volts at 4A—doubling its capacity! This improvement ensures even greater reliability and resilience in energy supply systems, contributing to the modernization and decarbonization of the U.S. electric grid. In Europe, we’re leading innovation through projects like “Charging Energy Hubs,” aimed at creating zero-emission urban areas by 2025, and a new testing platform in Berlin for electric vehicle components designed to improve affordability and quality. At KEMA Labs, we’re proud to be at the forefront of energy sustainability and innovation. #EnergyTransition #Innovation #Sustainability #Electrification #EV #CleanEnergy #KEMALabs #CESI

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming the provincial executives of Gelderland and Overijssel, along with several members of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives from the Eastern Netherlands, to KEMA Labs in Arnhem. During their visit, we discussed the crucial importance of testing components for the energy network, especially in light of the challenges posed by the energy transition.   In this transition, it is vital to keep the Arnhem region attractive for engineers with an energy background. Attracting and retaining these specialized talents is essential to ensuring the quality and innovation of our energy networks. Quality remains a top priority, especially as speed is necessary in the fight against grid congestion. Maintaining this balance is critical to managing risks and ensuring a reliable energy supply.   We remain committed to working with regional partners to be a leading center of knowledge and innovation, where technological progress goes hand in hand with a sustainable future.   We thank our guests for their visit and the valuable conversation. Together, we are working towards a safe and reliable energy future! #EnergyTransition #KEMALabs #Innovation #EnergyNetwork #Quality #TalentDevelopment #Arnhem

In the latest KEMA Labs podcast, Antonio Boccuni, our Marketing & Strategic Tools Manager, chats with Bertani Alessandro, Director of Global Business Unit Services & Smart Technologies, about how digitalization is transforming electrical substations. Learn how digital data is replacing traditional transformers and wiring, leading to cost reductions and simplified systems. Alessandro also touches on key challenges like the need for interoperability standards (IEC 61850) and robust cybersecurity measures (IEC 62443, IEC 62351). Plus, hear about future innovations such as "digital twins" for simulating substation behavior, boosting efficiency and safety. What do you think will be the biggest challenge in digitalizing the electrical sector? Listen now and stay tuned for more insights from industry leaders! https://lnkd.in/dueUYYhv

A team of our engineers, including Sterlin Cochran, Sr. NPD Project Engineer, recently traveled to KEMA Labs in Arnhem, Netherlands, to conduct power testing on our underground gas-insulated switches designed for vault applications. Adhering to the IEEE C37.74 standard, these switches are part of a global initiative to transition from SF6 to a more environmentally friendly Natural Origin Gas (NOG) dielectric. SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) is a highly potent greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential over 23,500 times that of CO2. By shifting to NOG, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact and support a more sustainable future. To ensure optimal performance, these switches were modified with viewing windows, allowing our engineers to closely monitor the testing process. We’re proud to announce that the power test sequence was successfully completed!
