📱 What experimental trials do we conduct to improve our predictive models? For us, the reliability of predictive models is essential. Every year, we conduct various field trials to refine our DSS. In particular, for durum wheat, we conduct: 🔬 Varietal trials: We characterize both treated and untreated varieties to assess their susceptibility to different diseases. 📏 Seeding density trials: We evaluate the tillering capacity, lodging resistance, and spike fertility. 🌱 Fertilization trials: We focus our analyses on the use of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. 🛡️ Defense trials: We analyze the susceptibility of various varieties and the behavior of pesticides. These trials are essential to improve the precision and reliability of our predictive models, ensuring that our DSS provides accurate and realistic advice to farmers and agri-food supply chains. 📽️ Learn more in our reel! #Agriculture #DSS #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agtech #Carboncredit

📉 Reduction of 33% in Soil CO2 Emissions Thanks to Regenerative Agricultural Practices We have reduced CO2 emissions by 33% and N2O emissions by 46% thanks to regenerative agriculture techniques. But how did we achieve this? The adoption of regenerative agricultural practices has been the key to achieving these results. This demonstrates how the precise application of these techniques not only improves soil health but also drastically reduces greenhouse gas emissions. 📊 To quantify these reductions, we used our internally developed AresC model. This model, refined through the use of 8 accumulation chambers, accurately measures soil greenhouse gas emissions in relation to the implemented agronomic practices. 🎥 Want to know more?

How important is field experimentation for the proper functioning of DSS? At Horta, we firmly believe that the experimental trials, conducted each year on approximately 6000 plots of durum wheat, are the true strength of our predictive models. 🧑🏽🌾 These trials, which range from varietal trials, fertilization, defense, and seeding density, are crucial for improving our DSS (Decision Support Systems), making them increasingly precise and reliable, and capable of providing the supply chains and farmers with accurate and realistic advice on the climatic conditions in their fields. 🌱 This is particularly important in the world of cereals and durum wheat, where cultivation areas and varieties differ significantly, creating unique microclimates. This makes it necessary to provide the supply chains with tools that, in addition to being reliable, adapt to every condition in the field. 📽️ Learn more in our reel! #Agriculture #SoilHealth #DSS #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agtech

But how are generated carbon credits measured? As we all know, one of the biggest issues related to carbon credits is their accurate measurement and quantification. This is due to the lack of adequate and accurate tools. At Horta, we have developed two systems that allow us to measure both the reduced CO2 emissions resulting from the implementation of virtuous agricultural practices and the carbon stored in the soil. Let's see what they are: 📊 Measurement of Reduced Emissions through DSS: Using the DSS Yousustain, it is possible to measure the emissions from each agricultural operation, quantifying them and optimizing agronomic practices such as seeding density, fertilization, pest control, and water use in subsequent agricultural seasons. 🔄 Measurement of CO2 Retention or Accumulation Trend: We have developed the AresC model, validated by numerous real field measurements, which allows for accurate measurement of the trend of CO2 retention or accumulation in the soil. 📽️ Learn more in our reel! #Agriculture #SoilHealth #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agtech #Carboncredit

How to Sequester 1 to 2.5 tons/ha of CO2 with Regenerative Agriculture Each year, Horta conducts field trials of regenerative agriculture to advise industries and agri-food supply chains on the best techniques to maximize carbon sequestration in the soil and improve soil health. Here are some of the techniques applied: 🌱 Relay cropping of Cover Crops with Alfalfa: sown with wheat during tillering. 🔄 Reduction of Pre-Sowing Tillage: minimizing soil tillage before sowing. 💧 Reduction of Nitrogen Units: reducing nitrogen input to the crops. Thanks to these techniques, soil fertility is increased, and carbon is sequestered in the plant, which eventually ends up in the soil. These steps are fundamental for generating soil carbon. Concrete results? 📊 Agrestic Project: we have recorded the sequestration of at least 1 ton of CO2 per hectare in the soil (following the destruction of alfalfa) each year, with peaks up to 2.5 tons in the last year. 📽️ Learn more in our reel! #Agriculture #SoilHealth #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agtech #Carboncredit

What are the real benefits of regenerative agriculture for the food and agricultural industries? Regenerative agriculture represents a fundamental shift towards environmental sustainability and innovation in the agro-food sector. But what exactly does it mean? 🌱 Improvement of Soil Fertility: Regenerative practices enrich the soil, improving crop yields and quality in the long term. 🌿 Increase in Biodiversity: Healthier soil, rich in organic matter, supports a greater variety of plants and microorganisms. 🌾 Reduction of Emissions: The adoption of good agricultural practices reduces greenhouse gas emissions associated with farming operations. 💡 Carbon Stock: Regenerative techniques increase the soil's capacity to store carbon, contributing to the generation of carbon credits. The combination of these factors generates carbon credits, a value that rewards agricultural companies for their good practices and allows agro-food companies to mitigate and reduce their emissions. 📽️ Learn more in our reel! #Agriculture #SoilHealth #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Agtech
