Political developments often support thematic financial trends, e.g. the team’s long-standing preference for IG credit over govies. The team explains why they try to avoid falling under the excessive influence of political crises, often the cause of temporary spikes. The French election may be a buying opportunity for OATs, unless a fully split parliament causes stalemate and makes fiscal consolidation impossible. Until the political fog lifts, they are keeping their equity overweight (OW) minimal, and high yield and financial credit neutral. They stay long non-financial IG credit, like play the range in rates, still with a long duration bias. Finally, EMs offer good diversification benefits (both in equities and HY credit), despite near-term dollar strength. https://lnkd.in/d9u4Eke3
