#WorldHepatitisDay Did you know that hepatitis is preventable? However, research has often prioritised adults and left children without access to the most effective treatments. This world Hepatitis Day, we call for the prioritisation of hepatitis research in children and for proper screening and treatment of pregnant people so that we can break the cycle of hepatitis transmission and create a healthier future for generations to come. #ProjectUpdate We are thrilled to share that the PediCAP trial team has successfully disseminated research findings to key healthcare stakeholders in Mozambique! PediCAP found that switching to oral antibiotics when a child's condition improves works just as well as continuing with injections and leads to shorter hospital stays. Additionally, the study found that shorter antibiotic treatment courses (as short as four days) are just as effective as longer ones. By engaging with healthcare professionals, policymakers and institutions like the Ministry of Health and WHO representatives, we've taken a significant step towards improving paediatric care of children with severe and very severe pneumonia. The positive reception to our results is incredibly encouraging and we're excited about the potential impact of our work on the ground.
