I am very happy because on Thursday I introduced by video conference the official launch of a beautiful new research book on collective living. It is the result of a collective mixed-method research published by Feltrinelli, "Collaborating and Dwelling. The Right to Housing in the Metropolis for New Generations," edited by Silvia Cafora. The book contains two of my chapters. It is in Italian, so not an easy read for many. https://lnkd.in/eJJuXhch
It is a research promoted in collaboration with the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli , the Fondazione Housing Sociale and the Fondazione Cariplo, with mixed methods, with one part opinion survey on a reasoned sample, one part with qualitative method based on working groups and collaborative analysis of projects. We investigated interest in forms of collective living, ways of fostering living in large metropolitan areas with possibilities of combining one's own house in suburban area and a shared house in the central city, but also issues related to housing discrimination, undivided ownership, demercification of housing, as well as different representations of collective living, student living, and much more.
I served on the scientific committee of the research and wrote two chapters:
- Vitale, T., Cafora, S. (2024).Introduction. Fluid dwelling in cities and metropolises that are not fluid at all, in Silvia Cafora (ed.), Collaborating and dwelling. The right to housing in metropolises for the new generations.Giangicomo Feltrinelli Foundation, Milan, pp. 11-19). ISBN: 978-88-6835-517-3.
- Cafora, S., Vitale, T., & Ferri, G. (2024).Young people's interest in collaborative housing models, in Silvia Cafora (ed.), Collaborating and dwelling. The right to housing in the metropolis for the new generations.Giangicomo Feltrinelli Foundation, Milan, pp. 39-48. ISBN: 978-88-6835-517-3.
If you are interested you can easily download from my Academia page: https://lnkd.in/ekqeXsFq The whole book is in open access on the Feltrinelli publishing house website, it is very nice and interesting, here is the link to the page: https://lnkd.in/eJJuXhch
