Can AI enhance financial stability, or will governments stay reactive to tech advancements? In our latest #FBFblog, Max Weber Fellow Harry Begg presents recent research where he analysed over 550,000 newspaper articles from six democracies (2006-2018) using a large language model (LLM) to classify articles into categories like scandal, regulation, and bank liquidity. Findings show strong correlations between media coverage and financial indicators like the TED rate, highlighting AI's potential in regulatory contexts.
