I expect that this is only my first foray into articulating my thoughts around this, and that my ideas will continue to evolve as the technology and my understanding of it matures, and as I listen to others who approach it from a different point of view to my own. Please see the first comment for a link to the full post, and I do want to know what your comments are!

In a longer reflective piece, Marzia Aricò reflects on the current state (or crisis) of service design and envisions four emerging roles for service designers going forward: designing for trust, entrepreneurship, designing with a focus on organisations and their stakeholders, and designing for sustainability. She also argues that domain expertise is now essential, and generalism increasingly irrelevant. https://lnkd.in/dUE9Pt7q

Why is the implementation of #AI/ #ChatGPT in cars always just about navigation and entertainment? Latest example is the #Kia EV3 (https://lnkd.in/edzaUUyH) UX research points to much more relevant scenarios that could provide value to drivers in their daily lives.

Claire Jin of Conifer Research points out that fear of missing out (FOMO) is driving many companies to embed #AI into every product feature. This technology-centric approach risks overshadowing a fundamental goal of product development: to create solutions that genuinely solve user problems and meet their needs. She argues (and we agree) that rushing into AI-powered solutions without understanding user needs, clearly defining problems, and evaluating AI’s appropriate applications can often lead to disappointing results. In some cases, especially when AI solutions are used without sufficient safeguards in sensitive areas like healthcare, the consequences can be outright dangerous, posing risks to user privacy, safety, and well-being. The article focuses very much on online services and apps, and suggests some valid UX research methods. The overall logic applies equally well to building AI into consumer goods or car interfaces, and also to how AI is implemented within organizations (on how that impacts issues of trust, control, and privacy). https://lnkd.in/dWfvaNEi
