This mummy of an Inca girl was officially named Saphi, which means ‘roots’ in Quechua. This incredibly well-preserved individual is part of a collection of over 60 mummified individuals and over 500 human skulls which are being preserved and studied at MUNARQ - the National Museum of Archaeology in La Paz, Bolivia. A team from the Eurac Research Institute for Mummy Studies together with Bolivian colleagues from MUNARQ have worked together to create a visual catalog of this Bolivian cultural heritage, the result is “NUESTROS ANCESTROS”. 📰 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dvk_hESc 👉 with Guido Marcelo Valverde Garnica Zink Albert Marco Samadelli Alice Paladin Frank Maixner 📷 Ministerio de Culturas, Descolonización y Despatriarcalización de Bolivia; Museo Nacional de Arqueología - MUNARQ #EuracResearch #bioarchaeology #Bolivia

Chi siamo

📢 Save the date! 22 and 23 August in Bolzano-Bozen (with a Fireside Talk in the South Tyrolean Dolomites). 🔴 Global Tourism Futures 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞? Different Dynamics in Asia, Europe and the Gulf Region https://lnkd.in/dCDqzFSM 💡 While many historic destinations in Europe continue to grow in popularity, they are forced to cope with overcrowding and all its associated negative social and environmental impacts. Consequently, these destinations mainly seem to focus on managing the influx of visitors, establishing visitor guidance systems, and trying to address the challenges of #overtourism. In contrast, the emerging destinations in Asia and the Gulf region are developing entirely new attractions and construction projects from scratch with the ambition of incorporating critical issues related to the planet’s future from the outset. Tourism development in these regions often appears to be more closely connected to a broader #vision of the future, challenging questions related to political and economic governance, and fostering a new perspective on the role of leisure and tourism in societies with a high interest in #sustainability. ℹ️ Organized by Center for Advanced Studies - Eurac Research in cooperation with COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute HERO Südtirol Dolomites Anna Scuttari (IULM University). ✏️ Participation is free of charge and open to everyone. For organizational reasons, we kindly ask you to register: https://lnkd.in/gmuiznME

📢 Seminar - The Energy Gamble: Transatlantic friends or foes? 📅 Thursday 18.07.2024 at 11:30 - 12:30 | 📍 Eurac Research The Center for Climate Change and Transformation – Eurac Research and the Institute for Renewable Energy – Eurac Research are pleased to welcome you at this seminar on the effects of Trump administration's energy policy for Europe and the world. 👉 Shanti Gamper-Rabindran will share insights into her book America’s Energy Gamble, which details how political, financial, and legal institutions entrench fossil fuel dependency, but also how efforts to shift to cost-competitive renewable energy have gained traction in the United States. She will also discuss the increasing focus on "decarbonization" strategies that might be considered questionable (i.e. carbon capture and storage). This will be followed by interventions on EU climate and energy policies and their current shaping of the energy transition in the EU, concluding with a discussion on whether in this energy gamble the US and the EU are friends or foes. 👤 Shanti Gamper-Rabindran is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh working on climate policies. Gamper-Rabindran’s research includes analysis on the economic, legal, and political barriers and opportunities for the energy transition to renewable energy and for economic diversification of fossil fuel-reliant communities in the United States and globally. ℹ️ The event will take place on Thursday 18.07.2024 at 11:30 - 12:30. No registration is necessary, all participants are welcome.
