✨ We're thrilled to announce the launch of the SEAFAIRER project! 🚢 SEAFAIRER (sustainable energy and alternative fuels from advanced intermediate renewable energy carrier technology) is a new EU Horizon funded project, launched on 1 September 2024, aimed at demonstrating the production of improved intermediate #biofuels from #biogenicwasteresidues for the shipping sector, utilizing existing refinery infrastructure. ⚓The kick off meeting was held on September 25th in Copenhagen (Denmark) was the occasion for the partners to present their work and sharing the enthusiasm for the start of this new project! ♻ By converting #biomassfeedstocks (rice husks, bio-waste screening material, and agave bagasse) into #biochar, #rawoil, and #syngas, the project will pave the way for a cleaner, greener future for maritime shipping. The consortium is coordinated by DTU - Technical University of Denmark and ETA Florence is the proud leader for dissemination and communication activities of the project! 🌐 The project website and the official social media channels will be launched soon. Stay tuned to learn more and discover the developments about the project! CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency

Second consortium meeting with a view 🏞 Thank you SINTEF Industry and SINTEF Ocean for hosting us last week at the fantastic Kvilhaugen Gård and thank you Audi Førde for the warm welcome! We enthusiastically discussed the project research progress after 9 months of activities, presented our future plans and got the great opportunity to visit SINTEF Ocean Maritime Energy Systems Laboratory and SINTEF Industry Tiller Lab. ⛵ At SINTEF Ocean Maritime Energy Systems Laboratory current and future fuel and energy systems are tested and researched. The laboratory is equipped with seven separate fuel systems that can test known and future fuels and they are all built to be able to reproduce conditions on board ocean-going vessels. In addition, there is also a battery tester for the electrical operation of boats and ships. 💧 The CO2 laboratory at Tiller is a highly equipped test facility for development of post-combustion #CO2capture technologies, as well as a research lab for flue gas pre-treatment analysis and emission research. 💻 Stay tuned with the project updates by visiting the project website at https://lnkd.in/dGgnuR8z SINTEF Industry, BTG Biomass Technology Group BV, Tüpraş, Ranido, German Aerospace Center (DLR), ETA Florence Renewable Energies, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Ketjen Corporation, CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, AristEng Sarl
