Chi siamo
Code for Earth is an innovation programme run by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Its aim is to drive innovation and open source developments in the Earth sciences community - supporting developments in weather and climate, Copernicus and Destination Earth (DestinE). Since 2018, each summer, up to ten developer teams work together with experienced mentors from ECMWF and partner organisations on innovative projects. These projects are related to the broad scope of activities at ECMWF, including data science, weather, climate or other earth sciences, visualisation and more.

The vAirify project is building a dashboard for exploring differences between CAMS air pollution forecasts and in-situ measurements. For those who don't know what that means, the great minds 🧠 behind #Challenge16 are building a product that will regularly poll platforms such as OpenAQ and compare actual readings of the air quality around the world 🌍 to the CAMS forecasts. Let's give a round of applause to Tim Johnson, Ajay Mehta, Sebastian Steinig, Benjamin E. Jones, Maxwell Nyamunda, Michael Walker-Rose, Luke Vincent & Richard Strange! 👏

Mark P., Miha Razinger, Milana Vuckovic, and Christopher Stewart are the fantastic mentors for project "cams-nb-charts" 💫 For those of you who don't know, the mentors are those folks our coders turn to for questions, problems, and expertise in all earth 🌏 sciences! Let's give them a round of applause 👏 and some much deserved appreciation!
