The need to improve and evolve the design of Process Control Pulpits has pushed Danieli Danieli Automation DIGI&MET to collaborate with two brilliant protagonists of the world of industrial design: Fabio Filippini (Italian designer with long international experience in the automotive sector) and alessio pozzoli (Product designer from Milan) The result is the new pulpit that debuted during the last DIM event here in Buttrio, arousing admiration and much interest among our guests. The project is focused on the search for best ergonomics, strong attention to safety issues, flexibility of use and easy installation in different production contexts. We are thrilled to announce the successful implementation of an innovative project at ABS Cargnacco plant, developed by Danieli Automation DIGI&MET in collaboration with Qualibit Srl. This cutting-edge system utilizes advanced camera technology to recognize ladles moving through the meltshop, including the machines and maintenance stations. Key Features of the System: - Recognition and Tracking: the system accurately identifies and tracks ladles, enabling detailed monitoring of their history and all maintenance operations. - Data Collection for Predictive Maintenance: by gathering comprehensive data on each ladle, we can now implement predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency. - Real-Time Status Updates: operators on the field receive up-to-date information, facilitating informed decision-making and improving response times. - Enhanced Monitoring: operators in the pulpit have a clear overview of the meltshop's operations, ensuring better coordination and safety. During the SPS Italia 2024 - Industrial Automation event in Parma (28 - 30 May 2024) Danieli Automation DIGI&MET participated in the conference dedicated to the Digital Twin: the key to quality and sustainability in manufacturing 5.0. The Digital Twin represents an advanced technology, capable of generating a virtual replica of components, resources, systems and processes, allowing real-time interactions through different modalities. This technology promises significant benefits for companies interested in improving the efficiency, quality, safety and sustainability of their operations. Marco Ometto, Executive Vice President Danieli Automation R&D, explored the potential of the use of the Digital Twin in manufacturing, underlining how crucial it is in achieving the objectives of Manufacturing 5.0, with particular attention to the following characteristics: - Interoperability: designing interoperability between systems was equivalent to a massive work of "simplification" of the Man-Systems iteration for Danieli Automation; this has allowed us to conceive a new form of plant supervision. - Human Interaction: reassign operational roles and responsibilities through a new and different professional approach. No longer driving, repairing and inspecting but predicting, interpreting and certifying become the imperatives of the new job descriptions. Today these are grouped into a single large discipline renamed "conduction" - Economic impact: increase in safety thanks to remote supervision, which reduces the risks of "contact"; predictability in anticipating any problems with the functioning of the system and therefore an increase in its availability; reduction of deviations from the product specification, with consequent increase in plant yield.

On May 29th of this year, during the General Assembly, our Marco Ometto was elected to be part of the The European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) Board of Directors as a representative of the Gruppo Danieli. Danieli Automation DIGI&MET agrees to be active part of ESTEP since 2015, being involved on several tasks and being associated since 2018, believing on Cooperative Research as an important added value for all our companies and promoting several R&D&I projects where Competitors in the Plant Builder with Steel Producers decided to work together on common field of interest of the Steel Business. Here follows the urgency where to engage and accelerate: - Advanced Manufacturing Intelligence - Sustainability and Environment Impact - Energy Transition - Enhancement of the human factor added value Gruppo Danieli thanks everyone and renew its commitment in supporting the interests of all ESTEP community: in particular, Steel Producers and Plant Builders unified by the common interest for the Steel Business. Finally, is also very important to thank Gruppo Danieli President, Mr. Gianpietro Benedetti, who recently passed away. He was, along all these years of collaboration, a brilliant example of innovators, strongly believing on the power of the research and innovations in the Steel Industry.
