On July 11 and 12, we proudly presented the results of our energy storage systems project for Ecuador, contracted by the World Bank. The event on April 11 was graced by the presence of several notable figures, including the Minister of Energy of Ecuador and the Ambassador of Korea, who co-financed the project alongside the WB. Funded by the World Bank and the Korean Cooperation Fund, this project entailed a comprehensive evaluation of the current energy storage systems available in the market. Additionally, we conducted a technical and economic analysis of the benefits these systems could bring to the operation of Ecuador's power system. The results of our analysis were presented to the Minister of Energy of Ecuador, the Ambassador of Korea in Quito, top executives of electric companies, and academic institutions. On July 9, 2024, CESI Group had the pleasure of welcoming the ANIE Federazione, the national association of electrotechnical and electronic companies, to our KEMA Labs in Milan. KEMA Labs, with over 90 years of expertise, offers cutting-edge testing and certification services for transmission and distribution network components. The visit was an excellent opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities in the electrical sector, focusing on energy transition and digitalization. Highlights included our High Voltage and Power labs, the Electromagnetic Compatibility lab with one of the world's largest anechoic chambers, and our advanced smart metering test facilities. 🔍EnerNex is excited to attend the IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting and EMTP® International User Conference🔎 Here’s a deep dive into the presentation that Muhammad Humayun is presenting at EMTP:    🌟 Sustained Overvoltage due to Zero Sequence Resonance for Shunt Compensated #Transmission Lines, 7/26, 11:00AM-11:40AM.      Shunt compensation reactors, used in long AC transmission lines, mitigate overvoltages from capacitive charging under light loads. However, they can cause operational challenges like sustained overvoltages due to zero sequence resonance in unbalanced conditions, often from circuit breaker malfunctions causing one- or two-phase disconnections. This resonance occurs between shunt reactors and phase capacitance in disconnected phases, potentially damaging equipment. Ensuring grid resilience near generation hubs is crucial. Thorough testing under actual working conditions is essential for reliable performance, instilling confidence in utilities. Recently, a 24kV 10,000A 80kA Generator Switchgear, designed to protect critical transformers, was tested at KEMA Labs’ High Current Test Laboratory. The tests, compliant with IEEE C37.013 standards, included a challenging temperature rise test at both 50Hz and 60Hz, requiring a steady 10,000A current and nearly 30 cubic meters of space. KEMA Labs’ facility can handle continuous currents up to 50,000A and frequencies from 15 to 65 Hz, ensuring the reliability and safety of critical grid infrastructure components. #GridResilience #PowerGeneration #ElectricalTesting #Infrastructure #Utilities

Dal 30 giugno al 5 luglio, Milano ha ospitato il 18° Congresso Mondiale di Ingegneria Sismica (WCEE2024), un evento che ha riunito oltre 5.000 delegati da tutto il mondo. ISMES  (www.ismes.it), parte del Gruppo CESI, ha avuto l'onore di partecipare con contributi di grande rilievo nel campo della valutazione sismica di dighe e infrastrutture ferroviarie. Diego Froio, Consulente per la Valutazione della Sicurezza delle Dighe, ha illustrato un metodo innovativo per la simulazione dell'interazione dinamica tra diga e fondazione. Riccardo Previtali, Responsabile del Prodotto per la Valutazione della Sicurezza delle Dighe, ha condiviso preziosi approfondimenti sull'analisi dinamica di una diga di terra con vari stati di stress iniziale. Andrea Zattoni, Responsabile del Prodotto per il Monitoraggio Strutturale e Idrogeologico, ha presentato un sistema di monitoraggio integrato per la linea ferroviaria Genova Casella, dimostrando l'efficacia della tecnologia combinata tra satellite e metodi tradizionali. Questi interventi hanno sottolineato l'impegno di ISMES nell'innovazione e nell'eccellenza nel settore dell'ingegneria sismica. Since the 1950s, starting with our initial work on the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, CESI Group, through its company Ismes (www.ismes.it) , has been dedicated to preserving historical sites worldwide. Our monitoring system for Florence's Cathedral involves an advanced feasibility study focusing on the foundations and sub-surface soil of the Baptistery and the entire Piazza del Duomo area. Throughout our journey in heritage protection, we have contributed to the conservation of remarkable landmarks such as the San Marco Basilica and Santo Stefano bell tower in Venice, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Cenacolo Vinciano in Milan, the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City, the Chapel of the Shroud in Turin, the Sisto Bridge in Rome, and the Tower of Ravenna. Today, CESI had the privilege of hosting H.E. Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, and H.E. Rashad Aslanov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, along with a high-level delegation. We were honored to present CESI's cutting-edge consultancy and testing activities, with a particular focus on the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe green energy corridor project. This initiative aims to export green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe, involving key regional partners. The meeting also provided a platform to discuss critical topics for the upcoming COP29 in Baku.
