🎙️ At last week's Energy Trading Week "Spotlight on gas markets: Exploring current industry dynamics" conference panel, Marco Saalfrank, Head of Continental Europe Merchant Trading at Axpo Group, revealed his view on the growing volatility in global gas markets, the #USElections' potential impact, ongoing demand challenges, and the role of #gas in the energy transition: Key statements regarding the European Gas market: 🇪🇺The current market design is doing its job: the price-peaks seen in 2022 due to the disruption in gas supply, attracted global LNG and reduced the gas demand, preventing the worst from happening. ⚡️Loss of flexibility: the strong decrease of Russian gas supply, reduction in availability of gas storage (Groningen and Ukraine), and the shift from conventional to renewable power production, leaves the market more sensitive to supply and demand developments, with more price swings expected. ❄️Looking ahead to 2024/2025: Despite comfortable stock levels, in view of a colder winter, a possible further reduction of gas flows from Russia, and with less #LNG coming to Europe, we expect a tighter winter than the previous ones.   ▶️ Read more of Marco's insights here: https://lnkd.in/eCEsHcX6   #Axpo #EnergyTradingWeek #EnergySolutions #EnergyCommodities

🌞 Axpo starts largest rooftop solar plant in France Axpo has officially started operations at the largest rooftop solar plant in France, located in Beauvais, approximately 80 kilometres north of Paris. With a capacity of 12.8 MWp, this 62’000 square meter installation will generate 13 GWh of green electricity per year. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of around 3’000 French households.   🚀 Driving solar innovation across Europe The Axpo Group continues to expand its solar expertise not only in France but across Europe. 💹 Axpo further diversifies financing with Samurai loan The new financing - JPY 42 billion or around CHF 250 million - has been agreed with a syndicate of 20 Japanese banks and Samurai investors. It includes a #sustainability component and will be used for financing current business and growth initiatives, such as #renewableenergy projects in Switzerland and abroad. 💬 "Financing the #energytransition is one of the biggest challenges of our time, so every additional source of financing expands our flexibility to invest in a greener future. This loan underscores the confidence of the stable Japanese financial market in Axpo's business model, strategy and robust financial situation,” said Harald Gauck Axpo Group CFO.
