Bringing together 16 experts from key ministries and the freelance to: ➡ Equip trainers with cutting-edge methodologies for effective capacity building. ➡ Provide in-depth knowledge of community-based reintegration. ➡ Enhance facilitation skills to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. ➡ Establish consistent training standards for high-quality program delivery. 🎉 Celebrating Success! 🎉 We celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Iraqi teams at the International Negotiation and Mediation Competition in Vienna!✨ Represented by students from American University of Iraq - Baghdad, Al-Turath, and Al-Iraqia universities, Iraq participated for the first time in the prestigious IBA/VIAC Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition (CDRC) among 46 global teams. Al-Turath University received the special award for the Mediator's "Most Effective Opening Address". Through our #EU-funded Commercial Dispute Resolution Initiatives, we have been supporting Iraqi law students in building their capacities in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation. By doing this, we aim to strengthen business enabling environment in #Iraq, making Iraq more reliable with efficient dispute resolution approaches. Zahra, a participant, shared: "The whole journey has been transformative for me and my friends. First, we joined the workshops provided by UNDP on mediation, then we got accepted to participate in the competition in #Vienna. Now we are back with a backpack of new skills, international experience and network. It has been uniquely rewarding and exciting." Today marks a significant milestone as we inaugurate the rehabilitated Abu-Teeban Primary Health Care Centre in #Ramadi, #Anbar. With generous funding from USAID #Iraq, this project has transformed the old building, ensuring modern facilities and uninterrupted services for 8,000 community members. We thank USAID for making this project possible and for their commitment to improving healthcare access and inclusivity. Empowering All Abilities: Iraq’s First Forum for Disability Inclusion UNDP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), proudly announces the successful conclusion of the First National Forum for Empowering People with Disabilities. Held under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister of #Iraq, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, the forum was a significant step towards creating a more inclusive society in Iraq. The event brought together diverse voices from government, private sector, civil society, academia, and local communities. It provided a platform for discussing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and exploring ways to enhance their vocational rehabilitation and economic empowerment. 🌱 Since November 2023, Welthungerhilfe Iraq, in partnership with UNDP, with support from the Japanese government, has been working diligently with Directorate of Agriculture to transform the agricultural landscape in Diyala Governorate. As of now, we have:     🔹 Installed greenhouses  🔹 Rehabilitated wooden canopies  🔹 Set-up modern drip and spray irrigation systems   🔹 Constructed concrete walkways   🔹 Provided essential agricultural supplies   🔹 Installed a solar system to power the pump water    Our impact has been    🌾 Expanding seedling areas   💧 Reducing water consumption and effort in irrigation   🌞 Embraced renewable energy with a solar-powered pump    Hence, together we have increased nursery production of fruitful and ornamental trees, offered seedlings at low prices for enhanced food security, while expanding green areas within the target communities in Diyala. Kawthar, who returned to Falluja with her family after the ISIL conflict, emphasizes the need for strong anti-corruption measures to rebuild their communities. Amira, a fact-checker at the Tech for Peace Organization in Baghdad, highlights the crucial role of media and civil society organizations in advocating for transparency. Both Kawthar and Amira, along with other civil society members and journalists, attended comprehensive capacity-building workshops provided by UNDP's Anti-Corruption and Arbitration Initiatives, generously funded by the hashtag #European_Union. Inam's project is not only supporting her education but also her dreams! 🍔🍟🍕 Meet Inam, from #Diyala, a university student, in the Department of Anesthesia Techniques with a passion for delicious food, she started a mobile restaurant serving tasty foods. Over 1181 small and medium enterprises are supported with training, coaching, in-kind support, or grants like Inam. The SME support was implemented by UNDP's Building Resilience through Employment Promotion (BREP) project with Humanitarian Relief Foundation (HRF) with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) provided through KfW Development Bank. #GlobalGoals #SDGs #SDG1  #SDG11

Water Flows Again in #Al_Zawiya village in #Haditha #Anbar province! 🚰💧 This initiative, implemented by UNDP and supported by USAID, helped rehabilitate Al-Zawiya water complex, a vital water source for citizens. Fluctuating water levels near Haditha Dam pose significant challenges, affecting water flow and causing Al-Zawiya water complex to adjust water levels to meet increasing demand constantly. To address this issue, we rehabilitated the intake station and installed three pipe stations. This ensures an uninterrupted water supply to Al-Zawiya. Today, with clean water flowing again, over 1,000 Iraqis will benefit from improved access to water, thus helping improve their quality of life. UNDP and USAID are working together to improve infrastructure sustainability and provide clean water for all Iraqis. 🚰💧 #GlobalGoals #SDGs #SDG3 #SDG6

Iraq Joins the Singapore Convention on Mediation: A Milestone for Foreign Investment in Iraq🌍📈 In a landmark move to attract foreign investors, Iraq has officially signed the Singapore Convention on Mediation. We celebrated this significant step with a conference organized in collaboration with the National Investment Commission and supported by the European Union. 🎉🤝 Conducted under the patronage of H.E. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, the conference gathered global experts to discuss the Convention's impact on mediation and international trade. The Singapore Convention simplifies the enforcement of mediated settlement agreements, paving the way for enhanced trade and commerce between nations. 🌐⚖️ Funded by the European Union, UNDP's Anti-Corruption and Commercial Dispute Resolution Initiatives support the government in curbing corruption and bolstering foreign investment.
