...the day after Clarence Rhonson/Claymont Coyote left for 2018 in the time machine built by Horizon Innovations. It was Sheryl Coyote's 9th birthday...and despite her happiness in celebrating it, she feels it just wasn't the same without her futuristic boyfriend. Her parents Frank and Wanda, realizing this, made a last-minute trip to the mercantile store. They came back with a very large and fancily-adorned bag and presented it to Sheryl. "We couldn't help but overhear what Clarence told you last night," said Frank, "so we decided to give this to you as a present from him." Sheryl squeezed the bag a little to see what it was, then gingerly opened it. "A TEDDY BEAR!!!" she squealed with delight as she tore through the bag. "Oh, it's just like Clarence said he'd get me!" "Yes, he did say something about getting you that bear," replied Wanda, "if it weren't for that time machine, that is." "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" Sheryl exclaimed as she tightly hugged her parents. "You can thank Clarence," Wanda said as she kneeled down to Sheryl's height, "in 58 years." "I will," Sheryl whimpered with tears of joy swelling up in her eyes, "I promise." She then headed back to her chair and held the bear tightly in her arms. "Meanwhile," she whispered to the bear, "I think I'll call you Clarence."
This is what I'd consider my postlude beyond the final chapter in
