*Peeks out*

I've been pretty quiet the past couple months. Things have been changing around here, and I've been trying to deal with it all and it's just getting me feeling 'bleah'. I'm not going to bore you to death with everything, but I do want to ask about something I want to try running again.

First thing first, next Sunday is going to be my birthday. Just not really feeling up for it though with how things have been going. But yeah, another year older.

The other thing, since my roommate has moved out, I've been thinking of trying to maybe stream or create let's plays, again. Couldn't really do it, as we really didn't have any privacy living together. The trailer COULD have two people living in it, but it's cramped and not the best. But I have a question to you, when you watch a let's play, do you want to hear the person playing talk or not? I personally don't like hearing the person talk, but what about you? Also, do you care to see the person streaming? I don't like being watched when I'm playing. I want to get some opinions and get some ideas.

Depends, but if they have interesting things to say, are funny, and aren't edgy, I prefer hearing the player talk over just silently playing the game.

Well life can be a bitch
As for streaming it really depends do they just want to show the game or do they want to show everything maybe even talk about the lore of the game or such

For me, I need the engagement of hearing them talk.

I personally like to hear the player talk, while playing. gives the whole thing a more personal feeling. otherwise you could just watch a walkthrough without comments.

I've watched your "The Division" let's plays a couple of times, and - I'll take the commentary over the silence any day. Also, when the player has their face in one of the corners, or on the side, it's really distracting and usually covers up a portion of the screen that you might need to see, so I would recommend not having video of yourself.

On the converse of that - where would you like to go for a birthday meal?

I'd say it's better with commentary, be it streams or vods. If there's no commentary I wouldn't watch someone play the game... I'd play it myself. That probably doesn't mean that you should force yourself to talk non-stop just to kill the silence - find your pace. It's probably also easier to talk about something if you stream and the audience engages or you could play with a friend alternatively and talk with that friend. Sometimes people also open up a stream to just listen to it in the background, they don't even watch for the most part, so that's another reason for commentary.

As for the face-cam I don't care as much. Sometimes it's nice to have for reactions and whatnot, but i wouldn't say it's as crucial as the commentary. If you'd rather not show yourself, you could always do with some sort of an avatar like vtubers.
