Follow your passion is great advice when the person has a clear and obvious passion, says executive coach Shyam Sadasivan. But what about people who don't know what their passion is or have more than one? Therefore, Sadasivan says that one should advise people to become aware of what inspires them. Follow your passion or more practical career advice — where do you stand? Share your take in the comments section.

Is “Follow Your Passion” good advice? If you ask me, it’s great when that person already has a passion that’s clear and obvious. But what about those who don’t know what their passion is? Or what if they have multiple passions? What about them? We are constantly being told in media to pursue our passions, but at times passion can be something completely out of reach. I have worked with clients who are confused, lost, or maybe even bored, and the idea of passion can feel completely alien. This is where I think the issue is. When we advise people to follow their passion, we probably assume one or more of these things - 1. they have a passion already 2. their passion doesn’t change with time 3. they’ll be good at what they’re passionate about And this is strife with problems. Instead, we could advise people to - 1. follow their curiosity 2. become aware of what inspires them and what doesn’t 3. focus on their strengths, not their weaknesses 4. learn to build on strengths and offer value at work 5. combine skills in new and interesting ways Do you think it’s time to skip “follow your passion”, and offer more practical career advice? Don’t follow your passion, follow your curiosity and talent. Know what you are good at and commit to becoming awesome at it. All the best. I am rooting for you! #coachshyam

Don't wait until the end of a job interview to slip questions in. Career coach Jasmine Escalera, says to focus on questions that prompt the interviewer to expound. Listen for clues in the conversation, Escalera told CNBC Make It. If they mention a past project you worked on and how it relates to a company challenge, ask for more information. If they ask about where you see yourself going, answer and inquire about the career paths of past employees. Escalera says to let the interviewer lead. But make sure you join the conversation. Companies across India Inc are looking to cash in on the Paris Olympics to boost employee engagement, prachi verma reports for The Economic Times. French construction firm Saint-Gobain is sending 42 high-performing employees to Paris from India on an all-expenses paid trip. On the other hand, a Visa employee from India will be participating in the payment solutions company’s Olympic torch relay in Paris. India’s women archery team for the Olympics are products of Jamshedpur’s Tata Archery Academy, and so Tata Steel will be screening the archery matches at all their academies and training centres. Deloitte has also selected employees from India to be part of a leadership development programme that will include in-person sessions in Paris on the sidelines of the Olympics. Earnest Koilraj, Team Manager - Human Resources at Royal Enfield, shares on LinkedIn that employee engagement strategies are evolving, with this trend of cashing in on global sports events being a departure from traditional cash bonuses. “While early adopters are reaping the benefits of this innovative approach, it’s crucial for others to remember that successful implementation requires careful alignment with a company’s overarching reward strategy,” he says. More consumers in India are now indulging in “impulse buying” online, Viveat Pinto reports for Financial Express. In fact, impulse buys now account for 30% of the average order value (AOV) on quick commerce platforms, according to industry executives and a Deloitte study. This figure was between 5% and 7% five years ago. What is impulse buying? It includes last-minute, unplanned purchases that are mainly driven by smart product placement and attractive pricing, the report says. Firms are now able to cash in on this trend because of better analytics tools thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning, says Anand Ramanathan, Partner and Leader - Consumer Products and Retail Sector, South Asia at Deloitte. Retailers can predict what a consumer would want based on their browsing and buying history, and this helps them create a call to action, he adds. Ecommerce and quick commerce platforms remind customers of their best-selling products, and strategically place notifications of flash sales or discounts on the order page or check-out tab, the report says further. Shashank Randev, founder of VC firm 100X.VC, says that this trend is also being fuelled by the promise of fullfillment, while helping companies optimise inventory and delivery costs at the same time. India’s ecommerce market to slated to be valued at $160 billion by 2028, compared to $70 billion now, according to a Bain report. I believe I'm the least knowledgeable person in the room. As a founder, this habit helps a lot. Whenever I and my team sit for a meeting, in the first place, I try to portray myself as someone who doesn’t know anything. This practice helps me in two ways. Firstly, it takes my mind to different places and perspectives that I haven’t thought about before. Secondly, it helps my team say whatever is on their minds and hearts. I think when you allow your team to open up and have clear communication, they not only bring their raw thoughts to the table, but they also feel valued. I personally feel this is the beauty of working with a team that you are exposed to so many different, creative, and fresh ideas that help everyone in the room to think, speak, and learn from each other. #Team #Entrepreneurship #Ideas #Linkedinforcreators

Hiring managers warn that AI-generated application materials often look the same, which doesn't allow you to stand out. One hiring manager told Business Insider she doesn't eliminate applications with what she believes to be AI-created cover letters or content. But, she would choose a candidate who wrote their materials over the obviously automated ones. The main point? A human touch is needed. Career coach Adam Broda recommends using AI to rewrite bullet points to tailor your resume to the job description. Also, ask the chatbot to create a list of skills based on the job posting and then rank them by importance.
