Housing that is green, resilient, and affordable is the way forward 🏠🌱.     IFC - International Finance Corporation hosted the ‘India Green Housing Roundtable’, bringing together industry experts and development partners to discuss opportunities to collectively bridge the demand-supply gap in the residential sector, and scale affordable and green housing across the country.    At the event, the participants shared insights on the outlook for the housing market, the role of private financing in the housing sector, and innovative solutions to boost the development of resilient and affordable housing where’s it’s needed most. Key discussions covered:     ✅ Developing a taxonomy for climate finance to support climate change adaptation and emission reduction efforts in the housing sector. ✅ Market dynamics, investment frameworks and the role of private equity in housing. ✅ The integration of prop-tech innovations into affordable climate-smart housing in India.    Green housing is a priority area for IFC in India. Towards green and affordable self-built housing in India.    Our recent partnership with Vastu Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. will accelerate green and affordable self-built homes across India. Utilizing IFC's Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency (EDGE) and the Climate Assessment for Financial Institutions (CAFI) tools, the partnership will promote sustainable housing in the country, expand the availability of micro housing loans, and empower women by prioritizing their access to home ownership.    This project is funded by Market Accelerator for Green Construction (MAGC) and European Union and through it, the project aims to build opportunities for #inclusive #sustainable #greenhousing in #India.
