Sr DevOps (Splunk) Support Engineer

Position Summary

As a member of our Research and Development team in Singapore, you will have opportunity to work with the best and brightest talents in the industry from Silicon Valley, San Diego and Cambridge, UK. Our team develops the software that powers the most advanced DNA sequencers in the world. We create the Informatics ecosystem that define the genomics industry to provide the best user experience for scientists, researchers, and healthcare professional. We use the latest SW technology such as .NET Core, Restful APIs, MicroServices Architecture, Cloud Computing on AWS in our new product development.

As a Sr Splunk Engineer you are responsible for administering the day to day Splunk activities of Illumina’s global Cloud-based Splunk Enterprise Platform. You should be familiar with onboarding new data sources and have basic troubleshooting skills. The Splunk engineer should be familiar with a Linux environment, editing and maintaining Splunk configuration files and apps. As a Splunk Engineer, you will be a part of the team that provides breakthrough genomic informatics solutions worldwide to enable the transformation of human health through DNA sequencing.

Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, and maintain required Splunk applications and add-ons
  • Monitor Splunk ingestion, heatlth status, and resolve any issues that may arise in a timely manner as needed
  • Integrate Splunk with other tools as needed
  • Manage, maintain and troubleshoot installation of splunk universal forwarder client on Linux
  • Manage and troubleshoot the onboard of data
  • Create, maintain and troubleshoot alerts and reports as needed
  • Mentor users and other groups on their use of Splunk
  • Be able to quickly learn new tools and technology
  • Automate functionalities and processes. Fluency with Python, Ansible , Bash.

Position Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge writing Splunk queries in Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL)
  • Understand Splunk Architecture (deployment server, heavy/universal forwarder, search head)
  • Relevant experience in AWS
  • Relevant working experience in one of the programming skills for task automation (BASH, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Understand how dashboards work
  • The ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep-dive
  • A strong preference for collaborative teamwork and work/knowledge sharing.

Skills That Are a Plus

  • Tools - Cribl, GitHub, Kubernetes , Jira , Confluence, GHAS, GH Actions.
  • Understand API Calls
  • Hands-on experience with Splunk Cloud
  • Any Splunk training and or certificates

All listed skills are deemed as an additional functions to this position that would be a nice to have.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • 5 years of experience as a Linux Administrator
  • 4 years of experience as Splunk Administrator for large enterprise environment
  • 3 years of experience as a Windows & Linux Administrator is a plus
