🚀 Task 05 Basic packet sniffer 🚀 Prodigy InfoTech I've been diving deep into network security and recently built a basic "Packet Sniffer" using Python and the Scapy library! 📡🐍 This tool captures network packets and provides insights into IP addresses, protocols (TCP/UDP), port numbers, and even packet payloads. It's a fantastic way to understand network traffic and learn more about cybersecurity hands-on. 🔍💻 🔧 Features of the Packet Sniffer: - Captures network traffic in real-time - Displays source and destination IP addresses, protocols, and port numbers - Supports both TCP and UDP traffic - Shows packet payload data if available 💡 Learning Outcomes: - Enhanced my understanding of network protocols and traffic analysis - Gained practical experience with Python and the Scapy library - Strengthened my ethical hacking and network security skills ⚠️ Disclaimer: This tool is purely for educational purposes. Here’s a simple information security example to break it down: 1-2. 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀: Just like making an inventory of your valuable items at home and installing security cameras to watch them, these controls help you know EXACTLY what's on your network. 3-4. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Similar to setting up strong locks and security systems in your house - but for your computers and data! 5-6. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 & 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Think of this as deciding who gets house keys and what rooms they can enter. Not everyone needs access to the safe, right? 🔑 7-8. 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗲𝗿 & 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: It's like having a security guard (antivirus) checking everyone (programs) who wants to enter your house (system). 11-12. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 & 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Consider this your digital emergency plan - like having backup generators and maintaining your security fence. 13-14. 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Teaching everyone in your household about security and keeping an eye on suspicious activities. 15-18. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀: Advanced security measures, like having a response plan for break-ins and regularly testing your defenses. 💡 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽: Start with the basics (1-6) and build up gradually.
